World of Warcraft: Legion: WOW Pet Spotlight: How to Get the Rare Pet Terky the Murloc

Dive into the depths of Northrend to uncover this rare murloc pet.

Every now and then, Blizzard likes to add something obscure to be found by the hardcore players plugging away at the farthest depths of World of Warcraft’s legacy content. Today’s WOW Pet Spotlight focuses on one such case: Terky the Murloc was previously exclusive to a Taiwanese iCoke promotion, but it was stealthily added back to the game for anyone to find during the previous Warlords of Draenor expansion.

The twist, and the reason most people are unaware of this pet’s existence, is that it was placed in a hard-to-find underwater cave in the icy depths of an 8-year-old Northrend area, the Borean Tundra. In fact, as someone that has spent an embarrassing amount of time fishing and exploring around that area back in that expansion’s day, I was very surprised - and somewhat delighted - to find that the world still contains such secrets.

So if you’re tired of being followed around by a pet that everyone else has, this one should be pretty rare indeed, as people have to go quite aways to get it, and most are not even aware of its existence. It’s pretty cool, too, with some uncommon animations and sound effects attached.

As always, this pet is account-bound and shared across all your characters. It can participate in pet battles - she is a humanoid-class rare pet - but, like most promotional pets, can’t be caged and sold, so for those looking for a quick cash run, this is not the way to go.

Below, you’ll find detailed instructions on how and where to find it, as well as coordinates. The cave can be tricky to find, so I recommend that you pick up a couple of underwater breathing potions, or use a character that can breathe underwater. Having an addon that displays your coordinates can be helpful, as well.

How to Find the Rare Murloc Pet Terky

First, go to Riplash Ruins in southern Borean Tundra, Northrend, and dive into the water. You’re looking for a place where you can see some ruins and seaweed directly below you. If you have a coordinate display addon, check around 56, 88.

You’re looking for a tunnel entrance, but it doesn’t look quite like an average tunnel. More like a big slit in the rock wall. It’s hard to see at first, but it is there - be through in your search and you’ll find it.

Swim through this tunnel - at some point, you’ll be forced to go up, until you emerge in a cave. You’ll see an altar with a shiny pearl at the back, along with a big lobster skeleton. Among the shells is a “White Murloc Egg”. Click on it and there you go!

Congratulations on getting your shiny new rare murloc pet. Makes you wonder how much stuff Blizzard has hidden away in WOW’s old areas, waiting to be found by curious players, doesn’t it?
