PUBG’s Season 4 update is now live on PC and it’s one of the largest patches to date. It’s brought with it a slew of changes, including the much-anticipated Erangel visual update, a new season pass and plenty of gameplay tweaks too.
Season 4 will launch on consoles in "late Summer", so those on PS4 and Xbox One will have to wait a little longer to get stuck in.
As PUBG Corp steadily introduced maps with stronger visuals and layouts, it felt like poor old Erangel had fallen by the wayside. Well, fans will be pleased that PUBG’s original map has had a significant facelift which brings it in line with its younger siblings.
Not only has Erangel’s “graphical quality” improved, but it’s now also home to “updated areas” and “plenty of secrets” as well.
Here’s a quick glimpse at how a couple of landmarks have changed since the update:
It wouldn’t be a new season without a new Survivor Pass. This one’s called “AFTERMATH” (presumably in all-caps for dramatic effect), and it’s adding new cooperative missions so players can work together to complete tasks, earn BP and get cosmetic rewards.
Elsewhere there’s a host of gameplay tweaks and rebalances. Most notably, you can now use heal and boost items while moving, but only at walking speed. Players will also find significant matchmaking improvements across the board too.
Finally, you can now find Turntables across Erangel which will play music to all nearby players (nice?) and many elements of the UI have been adjusted, from the character customisation screen to the weapon select wheel.
