Our PUBG guide to the best keybinds, hotkeys and keyboard layout to use in the game will increase your odds of survival a huge amount.

If you’re playing on PC then PUBG’s default control scheme can take some a little bit of getting used to. It’s no surprise really, as the game’s a complex hybrid of shooter, looter and simulator and so you'd expect there to be plenty of options to fiddle with. You’ll be driving cars and boats, changing firing modes before a fight, sprinting across open fields, and even peeking out behind a tree to land the perfect shot - there’s a lot to master here.

Getting your control setup tweaked so it feels just right is one of PUBG’s finest pleasures. It’ll remove an element of clunkiness from some of the game’s finer inputs, and ultimately optimise how you carry out all of your actions in the world. When things are more intuitive, you’ll have more time to concentrate on outlasting the opposition, after all.

You’ll find a list of the most important keybinds just below which we’ve based on WackyJacky101’s brilliant video. Do make sure you watch it and give it a thumbs up if you found it helpful.

Make sure you also visit our core PUBG Guide hub when you're done here. It contains a whole host of important articles that'll help improve your game.

Best Keybinds

Here's a list of the controls you'll want to rebind, each with optimal suggestions. You'll notice that some of them are kept at "Default" which indicates that we believe these controls are fine to keep in their original state.

Healing Items

  • Use First Aid - [H]
  • Use Bandage - [Y]
  • Use Boost Item - [T]

[H],[Y] and [T] are much easier to press than your number keys when caught up in a fight.

Firing Mode

  • Toggle Firing Mode - [B] (Default)

There's nothing wrong with this binding and it's something that most players will get used to over time.

Map

  • Toggle Map - [M] or [`]

Again, [M] seems incredibly intuitive. You can bind it to the [`] key just next to [1] for easier access.

Zeroing Distance

  • Increase Zeroing - [Thumb Mouse Button 2]
  • Decrease Zeroing - [Thumb Mouse Button]

Useful for fights at incredibly long range, but not entirely necessary. If you've got a mouse with some thumb buttons it might be worth making use of them in this context.

Communication

  • Push To Talk - [Caps Lock]

Important for when you're playing in a party or with randomers, having this on [CAPS] means your little finger can rest on it nicely.

Crouch and Prone

  • Toggle Crouch - [C] (Default)
  • Toggle Prone - [Z] (Default)

We don't really see anything wrong with these bindings, so we're happy keeping things the way they are here.

Peeking

  • Peek Left - [Q] (Default)
  • Peek Right - [E] (Default)

Both [Q] and [E] seem really intuitive for leaning, so we've kept it all on default here too.

Grenade

  • Weapon_5 - [G]

In any other game's we've played, Grenades have been bound to [G]. It just makes sense. The more you can carry over from one game into another, the better in general!

Unequip Weapon

  • Unarm - [X] (Default)

This is something we've grown used to and not something that you'll need to press in an instant. Keeping it bound to [X] is fine!
