San Francisco Shock pulled off a staggering upset against the mighty Vancouver Titans with a convincing 4-2 scoreline to take home the Stage 2 trophy.

The San Francisco Shock's victory was made all the more impressive by the fact that they'd managed to hand the Vancouver Titan's their first loss of the stage.

Given the Vancouver Titan’s dominance throughout the season, many predicted the Titans would overwhelm their opponents to take the championship in a largely one-sided affair.

Turns out San Francisco Shock had other ideas, and what ensued was a back and forth series with the Californian side proving too strong for the Vancouver Titans.

The San Francisco Shock dominated the first map, Lijiang Tower, with a solid 2-0 sweep. The Vancouver Titans bounced back in King’s Row with a closely contested 5-4 victory and followed this up with a convincing 1-0 win on Paris.

Just as it seemed the Vancouver Titans had swung the momentum in their favour, the San Francisco Shock dug deep to take the next map 4-3. This seemed to rattle the Titans, who never managed to recover.

San Francisco Shock then took the next two maps 2-0 and 2-1 at blistering pace. In the end, it wasn’t even close.

Stage 2's conclusion proves that anything can happen in a grand final. It's also clear the San Francisco Shock did their homework but also felt less pressure to perform, whereas the Titans likely felt it was their series to win and eventually collapsed under the weight of expectation.

The Overwatch League’s next stage begins on 7th June, but those who want more Overwatch action right away, don't worry. The community's favourite players will be facing off in the All-Star’s event beginning on 15th May.
