Nate Nanzer, commissioner for the Overwatch League, has announced his plans to leave the organisation for a new role at Epic Games.

Nanzer's new role will see him picking up competitive responsibilities for Fortnite, the blockbuster Battle Royale game that dominated gaming in 2018. Epic also recently acquired Rocket League developer Psyonix.

The news was confirmed in a Twitter post made by Nanzer on Monday evening. In it he described the move as the “toughest decision” of his life.

“I can't wait to see where the team takes the Overwatch League in 2020 - and beyond,” he also explains in the Twitter thread.

“I'll be cheering right there alongside you, every step of the way.

Nanzer will be replaced as Overwatch League Commissioner at Blizzard by Pete Vlastelica, who previously headed up Fox Sports.
