About Ed Thorn

Ed's a huge fan of rushing B in CS:GO and grinding it out in Destiny 2. He will not rest until a new Wario Land is announced.

For a limited time only, players who have Twitch Prime will get a Golden Loot Box for free.

Golden Loot Boxes contain at least one guaranteed Legendary item. In this article you'll find all the information you need to get your hands on the goodies!

What exactly is Twitch Prime?

It’s a partnership between Amazon’s premium subscription service and streaming platform Twitch.tv. Those who connect their Twitch account to their Amazon Prime account will gain access to Twitch Prime at no additional cost.

If you're not a Prime member and just want your free Loot Box, simply head over to the Twitch promotion page, then click the blue button titled "Start your 30-day free trial to claim now".

Just make sure you cancel auto-renewal of your subscription if you aren’t interested in anything but the free Loot Box.

How do I connect Amazon Prime to my Twitch account?

Once you've claimed your free trial of Amazon Prime, or if you're already a Prime member, sign into your Twitch account. Make your way to the drop down menu at the top right of the screen and click on settings. Now simply click on the Twitch Prime tab and then the 'Connect your Twitch account' link.

How do I claim my Golden Loot Box?

If you already have Twitch Prime, just sign into Twitch with your credentials. A big “Get Your Code” button will appear if the login is successful. Click on this button and make sure you take a note of the code.

Now login to your Blizzard account in your browser, and you’ll be taken to the 'Summary' page. Navigate your way to the 'Games and Codes' page using the tabs at the top, click on it, and then select 'Code Redemption'. Enter your code and click 'Redeem Code'.

Now it’s a case of logging into your Overwatch account, loading up the game and going to the Loot Box screen. You should see your shiny new Golden Loot Box sitting there in all its glory!

Other useful info

  • Golden Loot Boxes do not contain seasonal event items.
  • If you've redeemed your code but your free trial has expired before opening your box, don't worry! It'll still be there in-game for you to open.
  • The actual codes expire after three months though, so make sure you use them right away.
  • If you have multiple Twitch Prime accounts you won’t be able to stack multiple Golden Loot Boxes into one Blizzard account. Only one code can be redeemed per Overwatch license.

Finally, it’s worth noting that those with Twitch Prime membership will receive 5 free Loot Boxes in August and October of this year.
