Our Overwatch Winter Wonderland 2017 start date and time page contains launch details for the US (PT), UK (GMT), Europe (CET) and other global regions.
With the weather taking something o a frostier turn towards outright chilliness over the last week or so, our thoughts have of course started drifting like freshly fallen snow towards Overwatch's Winter Wonderland 2017 event. Going by the repurposing of the game's other seasonal events throughout 2017, it seems safe to assume that we'll see one of the game's most popular events make its return in December.
Right now, we can only really speculate on the exact start and end dates for Winter Wonderland 2017, although it's worth keeping in mind that the Overwatch developers have stuck pretty firmly to a 11am PT start time for evey map, hero and seasonal event launch that's taken place throughout this year. Although that's slightly different from how Year 1 was handled, it's proving to be the new consistency for launches. Until we have official information from Blizzard, we'll use that track record to guide us.
Before we do anything else, here's a comprehensive table which outlines all of the regional start times, so that you can look up the almost-certain start time for Winter Wonderland wherever you happen to be in the world. Although double check the accuracy of this chart every time we publish it, mistakes do happen. Please make a post in the comments if we've got anything wrong in your region and we'll fix it just as soon as we can.

Winter Wonderland 2017 Start Date / End Date
Next up, Blizzard has confirmed that Winter Wonderland 2017 is kicking off on Tuesday 12th December 2017.
No end date has been announced yet, but we can go by the previous event which finished on Monday 2nd January 2017. For that reasion, we're going with the date of Tuesday 2nd January 2018 for the end of Winter Wonderland 2017. Even if the Overwatch team would rather wrap things up on the Monday, it's fair to say no-one wants to be messing around with server code on New Year's Day...
As soon as we have official confirmation from Blizzard on the actual end date of Winter Wonderland 2017, we'll update this section of the article. For our money though, this end date seems like a pretty solid bet to us.
We will make one special mention, however, that the recent Halloween Terror event actually lasted a week longer than its 2016 edition. Again, we'll update this article once we have official information straight from Blizzard.
Winter Wonderland 2017 Overview
Winter Wonderland is Overwatch's seasonal celebration of all things festive, and was released for the first time on December 13th last year. The event concluded on the 2nd January, and these are the dates we're using to guide our thoughts on when 2017's edition will likely begin and end. As well as guessing at the likely dates, we can also look to last year for some insight as to what we can expect this time around.
Not only did the update add some delightfully Christmas-ey skins and other cosmetic items to Overwatch (as you'd expect from any seasonal event), it also provided us with our first bout of fun playing Mei's Snowball Offensive, which took place on a somewhat reskinned version of Ecopoint Antarctica.
If you'll recall, Mei's special brawl saw two teams of six players (all playing as Mei) go head to head in a single-elimination battle without respawns. Mei's weapon had just the one piece of ammunition, but it was capable of single-shotting an enemy target. Reloads had to be made from the piles of snow found dotted around the map - tense stuff to say the least...
Other maps got a bit of a festive makeover as well. Hanamura and King's Row were both given a much frostier feel to mark the season. Mystery Heroes was also reworked as Winter Mystery. In this new version of the randomised mode, map play was limited to both of these remade maps - all other elements of the game mode remained the same, however.
For many players, seasonal events are all about the Loot Boxes, however, so what can we expect to see this time around? Well, Blizzard's established a pretty clear pattern of bringing back old content at a reduced price, while introducing a new crop of festive items at a much higher cost. Expect that to repeat for Winter Wonderland 2017, giving you a second chance to unlock the pre-existing 12 Skins, 3 Emotes, 7 Victory Poses, 23 Voice Lines, 51 Sprays, 2 Highlight Intros and 26 Player Icons.
We'll be bringing you ongoing coverage of Winter Wonderland throughout the coming weeks, and you'll be able to find everything to do with the event on the homepage as soon as it's published. Don't forget to let us know what you're hoping to see from the new event in the comments!
