Our Overwatch Storm Rising guide contains everything we know so far about this special event coming to the game very soon.
Overwatch’s latest event has surfaced and it’s seemingly based around a hurricane in Havana, shady mega-corporations and could even involve a raid on sea fort.
We’ve been treated to two teasers from Blizzard, one based around a fictional front page spread in a local Havana newspaper, and the other featuring a decrypted voice message mentioning a change of strategy in the Overwatch’s hunt for Doomfist.
Currently information is pretty limited at the moment, but we’ve rounded up everything we know so far about Storm Rising just below.
Overwatch Storm Rising: Everything we know so far
Let’s start with the important stuff, when can we get stuck in? Well, Blizzard has announced it’s just around the corner and we’ll be able to play Storm Rising from 16th April to the 6th of May.
The latest teaser shows Doomfist's accountant Maximilien arriving at an unknown location somewhere in Havana, so we know for certain now that he'll feature in whatever activity Blizzard has in store for us.

Perhaps he'll be a boss?
Decrypted Voice File
Blizzard followed up on it’s newspaper tease with a voice message from a new character named “Sojourn”. She contacts Soldier:76 (then known as Commander Morrison) and proposes a new method of tracking down Doomfist by using his accountant Maximilien.

Here’s a transcription of the complete voice message:
"Commander Morrison. I have a proposal. We're going at catching Doomfist the wrong way. He's clean, but his accountant Maximilien? Follow the money and you'll find the dirt you need. I know you’re worried about sending the strike team out again after what happened with Reinhardt. But I’ve been working with them and I know they’re ready.”
She then goes on to outline who’s likely playable for the event:
"I'm putting Tracer in charge, with Mercy, Winston, and Genji in support. She's grown as a leader since the King's Row mission, and I know you'll agree. Call me back when you get this. And commander - trust me, they'll get it done. Sojourn out."
Blizzard released a fictional front page spread from a local Havana newspaper for it’s first Storm Rising teaser. It detailed how a family-run distillery morphed into a shady, unrecognisable mega-corporation, and how this company slowly began to take over Havana and suck the life out of the once vibrant city.
Right at the end of the page there’s a separate column warning readers of an impending hurricane which is about to sweep through the country. Considering the event is called “Storm Rising”, it’s likely we’ll be heading to Havana when the hurricane hits and using its impact on the corporation’s facilities to raid them and see what’s going on.
What can we expect from Storm Rising?
Based on previous Overwatch Archives events, we imagine Overwatch Storm Rising will follow suit. It's likely to be a four player PVE experience in which players will progress through a map and face off against hordes of increasingly difficult enemies, as well as the occasional boss.
This fits in nicely with the possibility of moving through Havana while the hurricane is raging on, and the shady corporation's facilities have been busted wide open.
Of course, expect the usual array of cosmetic items and returning skins from previous Archives events too.
