Our Overwatch: Anniversary guide contains start and end times, details of the new maps, skins, voice lines and dance emotes coming with the next update.
This time around Blizzard’s bringing back all of last year’s Anniversary exclusive skins, so players who missed out last year can try their hand at bagging those sought after skins once again. On top of this, there’s a brand new Deathmatch map, as well as some new Legendary Skins. Not to mention that all previous seasonal brawls and missions are making a return too!
We’ve put together an Anniversary guide below that’ll take you through all the latest information on when it’ll start and finish, the new map that’s been confirmed, as well as all of the cosmetic stuff that’s being teased. We’ll be expanding on all of these sections as and when new information is released - stay tuned!
Overwatch: Anniversary start and end dates
The Overwatch: Anniversary event will begin on Tuesday 22nd May 2018 and while there’s currently no confirmed end date, we reckon it’ll come to a close 20 days later on the 11th June 2018 seeing as that’s how long last year’s event ran for.
For an idea of when it's likely to go live in your corner of the world, take a look at our page dedicated to the Anniversary start time - we've got a number of regions covered.
Overwatch: Anniversary New Features
We've embedded the an in-depth reveal trailer so you can see what the map has to offer.
As you can tell, there are certainly more tight corridors than wide open spaces, so expect an abundance of close quarters fights when fighting tooth and nail in a Free for All Deathmatch.
There’s a Free-For-All Competitive Season starting, with both Chateau Guillard and Petra making up the map pool. We imagine it’ll work similarly to standard competitive matches, albeit with a scoring system to determine how many competitive points you’ll earn depending on where you place on the leaderboard.
All previous Overwatch Anniversary cosmetics are returning this time around, and there are 8 new Legendary Skins up for grabs as well.
Overwatch Anniversary Loot Boxes will contain a guaranteed Anniversary Event item, and contain all skins from past events! This means you’ll have a chance to earn some unique skins that have been locked away for a while now. If you missed the Summer Games Nihon Genji skin, then you could earn it during this event.
You’ll also be able to manually unlock all previous seasonal items from all the previous seasonal events during the Anniversary event.

Finally, there are 8 new Legendary skins on the way. Blizzard’s already shown us a couple which we’ve embedded below, and Game Director Jeff Kaplan hints at a “dapper gentleman” outfit that’s coming too.
