Hi-Rez Studios' third-person MOBA Smite is now free to play on Nintendo Switch.

The free release comes in the wake of the premium Founder's Pack version which launched a little earlier on this month.

Download the game and you'll be able to choose from one of 100 iconic Gods to do battle with. Each has its own unique set of abilities to help them fulfill their team role, and there's a generous selection of game modes to tuck into as well.

Have a look at our Smite Switch beginner's guide for the full lowdown on what's on offer.

Not only is Smite now free to play on Switch, you'll also be able to play with other players across multiple platforms, thanks to the game's cross-play functionality.

PC, Mac, Xbox and Switch players can not only compete against each other, but also carry their account progression between systems too (cross-play and progression on PlayStation 4 will follow at a later date).

That account progression contains all of the characters you've unlocked with Smite's in-game currency, and any skins you've purchased to compliment your collection with.

If you fancy grabbing every present and future God that releases, you can also pick up the Ultimate God Pack.
