This page explains whether CrossfireX will be playable on PC.

CrossfireX is an upcoming free-to-play FPS arriving on Xbox One next year. It’s a series that’s enjoyed immense success over in Asia - especially China - with the original game having racked up over 650 million registered players over its ten year lifespan.

Crossfire’s gameplay is very similar to Counter Strike, as it pits two teams of operators against one another in an intense shootout, whereby those who know the maps more intimately, strategise well and aim accurately will come out on top.

So, expect CrossfireX to deliver much of the same competitive FPS gameplay but with a polished look and maybe even some new mechanics. The question remains, though - will it be coming to PC? Or is it Xbox One exclusive?

Below we’ll run you through whether or not CrossfireX will be coming to PC. Once we’ve received an official announcement we’ll update this page further. Keep this article bookmarked for all the latest!

Our CrossfireX: Everything we know so far page is worth keeping tabs on, as we'll overhaul it once we know more with all the key info.

Will CrossfireX be playable on PC?

So far, there’s no word on CrossfireX coming to PC. However, one of the developers was shown using a mouse and keyboard in its announcement trailer, so it’s highly likely there will be support for these peripherals on the Xbox One.

There’s a remastered version of the original Crossfire entitled CrossfireHD which has just entered pre-registration in China. Crossfire is immensely popular in Asia, but give it a go and you’ll find it’s incredibly dated - both in terms of presentation and gameplay.

Just as Counter Strike: Global Offensive was Counter Strike: Source’s natural evolution, retaining the same classic gameplay but built with an entirely new engine, Crossfire HD is likely to succeed the original in a similar manner. It’s currently only available on PC in Asia, and it’s almost certainly going to reach our shores here in the West eventually, but there’s a sense it’s going to be the game’s exclusive PC version.

With this in mind, it’s likely Crossfire HD will come to the West as the game’s premier PC title, while CrossfireX will remain on the Xbox One as a console exclusive. Again, this is just us speculating, but it certainly adds up in our minds. Of course, Microsoft aren’t against sticking stuff on PC, so a CrossfireX PC version could very well happen.
