Our Pokemon Quest guide provides an overview of the game and will be updated with tips, tricks, team builds and strategy advice.

The next Pokemon game to be released goes by the name of Pokemon Quest. Following an announcement overnight, it's available to download from the Switch eShop right now, and a version for iOS and Android devices will be released towards the end of June this year.

In this article, we've gathered together everything we currently know about the game, starting with the trailer that was released as part of the announcement. You'll find a detailed breakdown of what the game's all about just after that, then we've got the official screenshots.

Once we've had a chance to play the game ourselves we'll have more updates for you!

Overview

Here's everything we know about the game from what's been released so far:

  • Location - Pokemon Quest is set in a world called Tumblecube Island.
  • Visuals - Expect a blocky but rounded look to the game. The trailer above does a good job of showing off what to expect.
  • Developers - The game is being produced by long-term Pokemon-producers Game Freak.
  • Teams - You'll send your Pokemon out in teams of three, and they'll root around Tumblecube Island looking for hidden treasure.
  • Pokemon - There are exactly 150 Pokemon to unlock in the game's Pokedex. To help us build out our list of characters, head over to our Pokemon Quest Pokedex list - together we'll get this one wrapped up!
  • Controls - While the Pokemon move automatically, you'll need to control their abilities whenever they encounter other characters.
  • Power Stones - As you work through expeditions you'll collect Power Stones. These might improve a Pokemon's strength or speed, for example. As you level up each Pokemon, they'll gain the ability to equip more Power Stones. To find out more about this system, check out our Pokemon Quest Power Stone guide.
  • Base Camp - You'll have access to a unique camp that you build and manage in-between missions. Here you can cook up meals which should attract new Pokemon. Check out our Pokemon Quest cooking guide for the lowdown on every recipe, ingredient and attraction effect we're aware of.
  • Decorations - You can also add new decorations to your Base Camp which increase its productivity. We've got a Pokemon Quest: Base Camp guide if you need some help with all the options.
  • Cost - The game is being billed as free-to-start, but the exact monetisation details have not yet been confirmed, beyond the customisation options detailed above. We do know that the currency is called PM Tickets. Check out our page dedicated to getting free PM Tickets in Pokemon Quest if you're struggling to keep up with the game's currency limitations.
  • Release Date - The game is currently available to download on your Nintendo Switch right now.
  • Platforms - We've mentioned the Switch, but Pokemon Quest will also be released for iOS and Android devices towards the end of June 2018.

That wraps up the first edition of our Pokemon Quest guide. We'll be back with more updates once we've had a chance to get stuck into the game properly!
