Our Paladins: Battlegrounds map guide covers all known zones and will be updated with loot and chest locations once the beta has begun.
The map in Paladins: Battlegrounds is big. Like, really, really big. According to the developers, those who are used to playing on the base game's typical maps can expect an expanse of land some three hundred and fifty times larger than that.
Why so big? Well, this new mode will actually see one hundred players go toe to toe with one another - in teams of between two and four players - in a mad scramble to become the last team standing and take home victory.
In order for that to not be complete chaos, you need a pretty big playable area. Battlegrounds' map is around 4.5km square all told, and stuffed to the brim with more than 50 distinct locations. Each one of these areas offers looting opportunities, protection - and plenty of wide open space to get caught up in as well.
In this article, we wanted to highlight everything that we currently know about the map in Paladins: Battlegrounds, although it goes without saying we'll know a lot more about it when the beta goes live. That's expected to happen at some point in Q1 2018, at which point we'll start fleshing out the detail on each individual location.
For now, using screen grabs from an exhibition match held at the HRX expo earlier this month, here's a breakdown of each location on the map. For a taste of what's in store, make sure you watch the whole video in this article, and you can also get a breakdown of what's what in our comprehensive Paladins: Battlegrounds guide!
BREAKING - 21st February 2018 - The game has only just gone into public Alpha and we'll be updating this article a great deal over the next 48 hours. Please share any map tips of your own in the comments and we'll be sure to include them - with credit - in our next update. Expect more on the map throughout Thursday 22nd.
There appear to be a number of areas of the map with a decidedly frosty feel to them. Whether that translates in any way to gameplay mechanics is not yet clear, and the icy feel may be purely cosmetic.
Still, here are the locations we currently know about:
- Frozen Wastes
- Ice Watch
- Valkure's Respite
The following zones appear to be a pretty standard mix of open grasslands and forest areas. As with the Winter Zones we'll be providing closer looks at each of these sections once the beta is actually under way.
- Clay Cove
- Elven Road
- Gun Town
- Hale's Regret (sp)
- Knight's Fort
- Manse (sp)
- Martin's Way
- Ska'drin Ruins
- The Bottom
- Three Towns
- Unknown Tomb
That's the end of the first edition of our Paladins: Battlegrounds, but we'll be updating it with new information as soon as it becomes available. We'll likely have more detail for you once the beta has begun.
