Our Fallout 76 Fast Leveling guide explains how to earn EXP and level fast in Fallout 76.
If you want to level your character quickly, you’ve come to the right place. Below we’ve listed all the ways you can boost your EXP rate while going about activities, as well as the things you want to prioritise for those big EXP gains.
Of course, if you’ve got any tips and tricks to leveling up fast then don’t be afraid to let us know down in the comments below. We may even include it in this guide!
Choose the right perks
There’s a perk available early in the game called “Inspirational”, which grants a 5% XP gain bonus. Make sure you take this card and then go about ranking it up, as it’ll increase by another 5% each time. Eventually you’ll end up with a pretty substantial 15% EXP boost, which is fantastic for levelling up quickly both in the early and late game.
This video by ESO - Fallout & Elder Scrolls guides does a fantastic job of explaining the leveling system in Fallout 76, so it's well worth a watch to gain a better understanding of the best ways to rank up:
While the quests themselves don't exactly grant a tonne of EXP, it's the fact you'll be forced into exploring the world that's the main reason you'll want to take them on.
We'd highly recommend getting stuck into as many quests as possible. This way you'll tackle a greater variety of enemies, find loads of crafting materials, get a better handle over the map itself and earn a steady stream of EXP all the while.
The yellow diamond icons on your map indicate public events. Head to these by yourself or with a group of friends and you'll likely fend of a wave of increasingly tough enemies or the like. You'll need to be fairly strong to take part, but it's a decent way of earning EXP fast!
Sleep and eat
Rest in the comfort of a bed and you’ll gain a “Well Rested” effect which will add a 10% bonus to your EXP gains for a limited time.
Look out for cooking recipes which will also earn you temporary EXP gains too. There’s a total of four different meals which’ll grant you some surprisingly effective bonuses and we’ve broken them down for you below:
- Canned Meat Stew - +5% Bonus EXP, +2% EXP gain for 1 hour
- Cranberry Cobbler - +5% Bonus EXP
- Cranberry Relish - +10 Bonus EXP, +200 AP
- Squirrel Stew - +10 Bonus EXP
Despite being a small bonus, every little helps right? Manage to get your hands on a “Leader” bobblehead and you’ll have a small EXP booster in your inventory. Consume it when you’re about to sink a large amount of time levelling and it’ll increase your EXP gains by a 5% - nice.
Set up Public Workshops
Take over Public Workshops and you’ll set yourself up nicely for some EXP farming. Specifically, you’ll gain access to crafting materials, a workbench to craft items at, and a base to attract enemies to. All of which will help you rack up EXP one way or another.
Farm high level enemies
It goes without saying that you largely want to avoid taking on the low level mobs as they simply won’t grant enough EXP. Instead, find enemies of a higher level, or of a similar level to take down.
There’s a particularly good spot in the Whitespring Golf Resort. Basically, you’ll want to sprint through the golf club, attract a bunch of enemies and run back outside. There’s a high ledge opposite the main entrance which your enemies won’t be able to clamber up, so stand and gun them all down. Rinse and repeat this method through server hopping.
This video by eNtaK is a great EXP farming resource and shows you the method we’ve mentioned above. Make sure you give it watch:
