In its latest Champion Roadmap blog post, Riot Games has unveiled new details on League of Legends’ next champion, outlined Morderkaiser’s huge visual overhaul and even gives us a taste of an upcoming Pantheon rework.
First, the juicy stuff. Riot has confirmed that the next champion to hit the Rift will be a “solo lane AD assassin” who “has powers which give them all the elements they need to use their surroundings in clever and innovative ways.” They’ll also be the first character from a secretive new faction, hidden away in the “jungles of Runeterra”.
Riot ends its champion tease with an interesting passage,
“Trespassers beware and stay away from the walls, for nowhere is safe when you enter deep into these jungles.”
It’s clear that this new champion will use the Rift’s jungle in clever and unique ways, but perhaps they'll make use of “walls” to outplay enemies. For now we’ll have to wait and see.
Onto Mordekaiser’s visual update and not only is it a “massive overhaul” for the bulky bruiser, it’s on the way very soon. Riot has updated or replaced every ability he’s got, but its been careful to retain his classic AP playstyle.
One of the biggest changes has been made to Mordekaiser’s ultimate and it’s been described as something which would “make his enemies truly fear and respect Morde, with nowhere to run or hide from his indomitable malice” - sounds pretty good, then.
Riot rounds off the blog post with a pleasant surprise. The legendary Pantheon has been announced as the next rework project once Mordekaiser has been finished up! He’ll be receiving brand new visuals, some gameplay tweaks and expanded lore notes too.
Oh, and the blog post signs off with another exciting champion tease. Late this year will be treated to a “very non-traditional marksman”. We’ll be sure to sniff out any future teasers, so keep your eye on the site for all the latest.
