G2 and Misfits dominated in the first weekend's play of the LEC 2019 and head into the next round undefeated, while Fnatic suffered two unexpected losses.

Origen, Vitality, Splyce, XL and SC04 all finished the weekend one for one, with Rogue being the only other team unable to secure a victory.

Below we’ve got all the weekend’s results behind spoiler tags, as well as links to VODs of each match:

Friday 18th January

Having picked up Fnatic’s star midlaner, Caps, G2 put in two exceptionally strong performances. In a similar vein, Misfits also dominated proceedings with the entire team showcasing brilliant synergy, although it was the botlane duo of Hans Sama and GorillA who stole the show.

Eyes were on Vitality after their miraculous run at Worlds 2018, and they got off to a conservative but overall, pretty promising start.

It was also nice to see Origen’s return to competition, having been out of action for the last couple of seasons. Despite a heavy loss to G2 in their opening game, they bounced back with a win against Fnatic in what proved to a repeat of their titanic 2015 clash.

As for SK it's a team composed largely of rookies, yet their jungler “Selfmade” pulled off the surprise of the weekend with some brilliant plays all round. He’s one to watch.

This weekend the LEC takes a break and the focus switches to North America's best teams, with the likes of TSM, Cloud 9 and Team Liquid all facing off for the first time this year.
