Our League of Legends Yuumi guide contains everything you need to know about Yuumi, including her abilities, synergies, counters, rune builds and tips to help you win more matches.

League of Legends now has a furry feline as part of its roster, which not only means the game has peaked, but it also gives everyone a reason to play the Support role and revel in the fact you’re playing a cat riding on a magical spellbook.

Turns out Yuumi’s actually pretty strong as she quite literally clings to her allies when they need support. She can heal, grant shields, increase movement speed and even fire off projectiles while clinging to teammates.

Below we’ve put together a quick overview of what Yuumi’s capable of, as well as some tips and tricks to help you get the most out of her abilities.

We’ll continue expanding on this guide as we get more hands on time with her, so stay tuned for updates!

Yuumi - Abilities Breakdown

Here’s a complete overview of all Yuumi’s abilities:

Passive - Bop 'n' Block

Yuumi’s attacks against a champion grant her a 55 (+X) damage shield and restores 38 mana. This effect has a 19 second cooldown.

This shield follows Yuumi until broken, and will protect Yuumi’s Attached ally while she has one.

[Q] - Prowling Projectile (Level 1)

Yuumi summons an errant missile that deals 40 (+X) magic damage to the first enemy hit. If the missile travels for 1 second before impacting, it deals 60 (+X) magic damage instead and slows champions for 30% decaying over 1 seconds.

While Attached, Yuumi fires a missile from her ally’s position and can direct the missile’s flight path with her mouse.

[W] - You and Me! (Level 1)

Passive: Yuumi and the ally she’s Attached to gain 5% of each other’s Attack Damage or Ability Power, converted to Adaptive Force.

Active: Yuumi dashes to an ally champion and Attaches to them. While Yuumi is Attached, she follows her partner’s movement and is untargetable except from towers.

[E] - Zoomies! (Level 1)

Yuumi heals herself for 25 (+X) to 50 (+X), increasing based on missing health, and gains 25 (+X)% movement speed decaying over 2 seconds. If Yuumi is Attached, this spell affects that ally instead.

This spell has two charges. Yuumi gains a charge every 18 seconds.

[R] - Final Chapter (Level 1)

Yuumi channels for 3.5 seconds, launching 7 waves dealing 60 (+X) magic damage (extra missiles deal 40% damage). Champions hit by 3 or more waves are rooted for 1.75 seconds.

Yuumi can move and cast You and Me! And Zoomies while channeling.

Yuumi: Summoner Spells

As Yuumi’s able to attach to her allies and zip across the map pretty quickly as a result, there’s actually no real need to prioritise Flash. Instead, it’s a better option two classics: Ignite and Exhaust.

It goes without saying that Ignite can prove vital if you need to apply some extra pressure in lane, or provide that last minute burst of damage to finish off an enemy.

Exhaust is also exceptionally useful, as it can be used on enemies engaging on a key ally or used aggressively to engage on an opponent who is out of position.

Yuumi: Build Path

When it comes to beefing up Yuumi with items, here’s what you’ll want to be purchasing:

Core Items

  • Sweeper’s Lens
  • Spellthief’s Edge > Frostfang
  • Athene’s Unholy Grail
  • Redemption

Secondary/Optional Items

  • Ardent Censer
  • Twin Shadows
  • Ionian Boots of Lucidity
  • Mikael’s Crucible
  • Locket of the Iron Solari

Yuumi: Synergies and Counters

Synergies

Yuumi’s great for poking enemies in lane and can provide some generous healing too. This makes her a perfect fit with ADCs who are also able to lay down some poke damage, but are also able to reposition easily too.

Heroes like Ezreal, Lucian and Kai’Sa are all great fits for Yuumi as they’re all mobile and can deliver a constant barrage of poke too.

Otherwise, Yuumi can also benefit those who lack in the mobility department, but you’ll just have to play a little more conservatively and focus solely on giving them the boost they need to go wild in team fights.

Jinx, Twitch and Kog’Maw all take some time to reach their devastating potential, but stick by their side, keep them alive in pivotal fights and you could help them get fed. This’ll make it a nightmare for the other team, as they’ll constantly target your ADC, but will have to deal with your healing and peel to take them out.

Counters

As Yuumi has to latch onto the allies she’s supporting, she’s vulnerable to Champions who can hard engage. The likes of Alistar, Thresh, Blitzcrank and Braum can prove deadly to lane against, especially if they land a hook or slam into an ally you’re stuck to - there’s no escaping it.

Other champions with AoE ultimates which stun can be a nightmare to play against too. Consider Kennen who’s able to flash onto your allies, press R and pull off a stun before you know what’s hit you. Not fun.

UPDATE: Yuumi Gameplay Reveal

Thanks to a Chinese stream we've been given a first look at how Yuumi handles. In the video we've embedded below, you'll find footage of Yuumi in lane as well as in teamfights, so that's all bases covered.

From the looks of things Yummi provides plenty of healing, decent poke damage and insane mobility during teamfights.

Yuumi - Latest Teaser

In light of the leaks (which we’ve outlined in the section below), Riot went ahead and released a teaser soon after.

From what we can tell, Yuumi is searching for her master with the help of her responsive spellbook. This spellbook is mute but can communicate through subtle page flicks and light cues, and throughout the trailer it flicks through Runeterra, presumably because Yuumi’s master has been gone for a long, long time.

There’s also a few visual clues as to what her abilities could entail. Right at the start of the trailer it looks as if she’s got a backtrack ability, but for now we’ll just have to wait and see.

Oh, and she really likes fish - yep, almost certainly a cat.

Yuumi - Leak

It’s happened before, and it’s happened again. Riot Games allowed one of its content creators under the League Partner Program a little spin of the upcoming hero, but details were leaked early.

Youtuber Nasteey accidentally released a video on his channel, and unfortunately it just so happened to be a guide on the upcoming hero. While he rapidly took the video down, the video title and thumbnail which contained some juicy teasers were quickly screen grabbed by users.

We now know that the upcoming hero is going to be called Yuumi and it’s a furry feline who fits into the “cute but deadly” aesthetic, like Neeko, Teemo and Tristana.

Judging by the thumbnail, it looks as if her Q is a projectile, her W is a movement ability (maybe a pounce?), her E another projectile (but AoE, this time?) and her ultimate uses her magical spellbook to mysterious effect.

The gameplay images also show her riding on the spellbook itself, so perhaps this is her main walking animation.

That's it for the second iteration of our Yuumi guide, but we'll update it further once the meta settles. Stay tuned!
