On this page you'll find the likely release date for Hearthstone's Witchwood expansion, based on pre-order information and previous launches.
UPDATE: 5TH APRIL 2018
Blizzard has just confirmed that The Witchwood will indeed be released next Thursday 12th April. The news revealed in a blog post this evening, and confirmed on Twitter as well
The blog post also confirms that the final cards will be revealed in a special, final livestream featuring Day 9 and Ben Brode at 11:00AM PT on Monday April 9th 2018:
A little earlier on this month, Blizzard revealed that Hearthstone's next expansion would be called The Witchwood. With the launch of this set you'll be able to craft or unlock a total of 135 spooky new minion and spell cards, and there are a couple of new keywords to play around with as well.
If you were a big fan of last year's Dungeon Run, you'll also be very pleased to know that a new single-player adventure called Monster Hunt will also arrive shortly after the launch of the expansion.
That's the new content, then, but what's the release date for The Witchwood? Although Blizzard has yet to fully confirm the launch plans, we've been given a pretty good starting clue from the pre-order page, which states that pre-ordered packs will be available to open at some point before April 30th, 2018.
It would be nice to narrow things down further from there though, and so we've looked at the historical release details of previous expansions. Whispers of the Old Gods - the first of 2016's three expansions - launched on April 26th. 2017's first expansion, Journey to Un'Goro, came out on April 6th. These were both Thursdays.
Given that card reveal season has only just got under way, making the first week of April seem quite unlikely, we believe The Witchwood's release date will be Thursday 12th April 2018. This ties in nicely with the usual card reveal window, and we believe Old Gods launched a little later than usual due to the fresh implementation of the Standard format.
As well as teasing the cards, Blizzard will also no doubt want to build up as much hype as possible for The Witchwood through the media, given that it heralds such a huge meta-shift for game that's just turned four years old. Three expansions (Whispers of the Old Gods, Karazhan and Mean Streets of Gadgetzan) rotate out of the Standard format, and there'll be lots to talk about.

As soon as we have official information from Blizzard about the release date for The Witchwood, we'll update this article - we feel pretty confident though that the 12th April is going to be the big day. We'd love to be proved wrong...
