About James Law

James can usually be found wearing dungarees, playing Hearthstone, drinking coffee, or all of the above. For his sins, he has been cursed to forever main heavies in Smash.

Seoul is ready for its leg of the Hearthstone Masters Tour, with 350 entrants fighting for a prize pool of $500,000.

If you’re in the UK, it’ll be a tough one timings-wise, with the first day starting Friday 16th August at 6pm Pacific Time, which translates to 2am the following day over here. It’s the weekend though, so if you’re hungry for competitive Hearthstone action like us, then feel free to make a night of it. The start time is the same for the first two days, and an hour later for the final day. You could always get yourself up early in the morning to catch the stream too!

It’ll be streamed over on Hearthstone’s Twitch channel and hosted by studio stalwarts Frodan, Brian Kibler, Jia Dee and Darroch Brown. For other languages, tune into the following streams:

  • Mandarin – Twitch.tv/HearthstoneZHTW
  • Korean – Twitch.tv/PlayHearthstoneKR
  • Japanese – Twitch.tv/PlayHearthstoneJP
  • Russian – Twitch.tv/PlayHearthstoneRU
  • Portuguese - Twitch.tv/copaamerica_pt1
  • LatAm Spanish - Twitch.tv/copaamerica_es1

The tournament will be conducted using the Specialist Format, which allows players to have three versions of a similar deck, giving competitors flexibility between rounds.

The competition uses a Swiss Bracket elimination system, and every invitee is listed here.

Twitch Drops are enabled for viewers, granting Hearthstone packs as a reward for watching. For 3 hours of viewing, you receive a Saviors of Uldum pack, with another on offer if you watch a total of 6 hours. There’s 1500 extra Classic packs randomly awarded every hour as well. You’ll need to remember to link your Twitch account with Hearthstone if you're after all of these goodies, which is explained in more detail here.
