The HCT World Championship 2018 will take place in Taipei between 25th April and the 28th 2019.
Sixteen of the top Hearthstone players will fight it out for a chance at the whopping $1 million prize pool. Blizzard will be announcing the full roster, along with additional details in the coming months.
The news was announced at the recent Hearthstone All-Star Invitational, where HCT Fall 2018 finalist Wu “bloodtrail” Zong-Change overcame HCT World Championship 2017 winner Chen “tom60229” Wei Lin to take home the $20,000 prize money.
As for the Hearthstone esports scene in general, this year’s HCT World Championship will be the last of its kind. Blizzard's revamping its setup with a new three-tiered competitive system consisting of qualifiers, live global tournaments and an exclusive top tier where more than $4 million in prize money will be up for grabs.
The top tier of play will feature a seasonal round robin online competition split into regional divisions, featuring only the very best Hearthstone players in the world. It’s due to begin as soon as the HCT World Championship 2019 comes to a close, and it’ll finish with a bang at year’s end.
