Just over a year ago, Blizzard ran a promotion that allowed you to purchase Khadgar as an alternative Mage hero, with proceeds from the limited offer going to the World Wildlife Fund.
Now he's back - sort of - and is available to unlock on the Chinese servers, albeit through a different sort of promotion altogether.
Chinese players who win a total of five games of Heroes of the Storm while partied up with someone from their Battle.net friends list will now be rewarded with this portrait. It's not known at this time whether or not the promotion will be extended to other regions around the world.
The Khadgar WWF promotion was not made available to Chinese players last year, and so this is the first opportunity anyone from that region has had to unlock this alternative hero.
Still, it's ruffled a few feathers in the community in this corner of the globe regardless, who feel that a paid-for hero should not become freely available by other means at some point in the future.
What do you think? Was Blizzard right to provide this character free of charge at this time, and in a different promotion?
