Back in 2016, Blizzard released the Khadgar alternative Mage portrait for Hearthstone. Initially only available in the west as part of a World Wildlife Fund charity effort, it subsequently became available in China this summer as part of a Hearthstone / Heroes of the Storm cross-promotion.

Now it's available to purchase once more in South Korea, and as part of a fundraising effort to support firefighters in the country. Full details of the promotion are available over at the official - Korean-language - Hearthstone site.

According to Hearthpwn, however, there have been reports that the unlock code purchased through the Korean shop can be used to unlock Khadgar in any region, but we'll echo their warning that you do so at your own risk. If you want to try this "grey" route, check the current listings on Ebay or hook up with a friend in the region.

Blizzard has released a total of nine alternate heroes for Hearthstone since the game was released. Here's a quick rundown of the other eight, and what you need to do to unlock them.

  • Alleria Windrunner - In-game shop
  • Arthas Menethil - Defeat The Lich King with all nine Heroes
  • Lady Liadrin - Reach Level 20 in World of Warcraft
  • Magni Bronzebeard - In-game shop
  • Maiev Shadowsong - Win 10 games in Standard Ranked or Casual
  • Medivh - In-game shop
  • Morgl the Oracle - World of Warcraft Recruit a Friend scheme
