Our Hearthstone Wacky Waxy Winter Veil Tavern Brawl guide contains the start and end dates for the event, with detail of the rewards and game rules too.

Blizzard has just announced a new challenge for the Christmas season. It's called the Wacky Waxy Winter Veil Tavern Brawl, and as the name suggests this new festively themed encounter will take over the Tavern Brawl slot over the Christmas period.

In our guide to the event, you'll find everything you could possibly need to know about the new content, from the rules for the Brawl itself, to the tasty treats you'll take away from winning your first match. We'll keep updating this article as and when new information emerges.

Wacky Waxy Winter Veil Rules

Here are the official rules of the event, as explained by Blizzard:

  • When the Brawl begins, four Christmas gifts will be added to each side of the board.
  • Unwrap a gift on the opponent's side of the board (the mechanics of this are not yet known) and you'll get a Legendary minion that you can play for three Mana less than usual.
  • More gifts will periodically be added to the board throughout the fight.

We imagine that the gifts will be represented by a new zero-Attack minion, and when you destroy one the Legendary card in question is added to your hand.

Winter Veil Rewards

Not only has the format been shaken up quite a bit with the Winter Veil Brawl, the rewards for participating are also much improved over the standard fare.

Rather than taking home a solitary Classic card pack for achieving your first win, this week you'll pick up three Knights of the Frozen Throne packs.

As usual though, once you've won your first game there are no further rewards beyond bragging rights, along with the little tally of victories you've clocked up at the bottom of the screen. Some things never change...

New Winter Veil Game Boards

The new Brawl will take place on an updated version of the classic Orgrimmar game board. This has been given a festive makeover with candy canes and Christmas bells, while the catapult now has a very shiny nose indeed.

Here's how the board looks:

Although not featuring as part of the Brawl, the Stormwind game board has also been updated for the festive season. Here's how it'll look when it - potentially - shows up in all other game modes during the Winter Veil period.

Start and End dates for Wacky Waxy Winter Veil

The Brawl will kick off on Wednesday 20th December and will end on Sunday 24th December, so you won't have a huge window of opportunity to grab your free packs. Make sure you do so in good time though, as this'll be a great way for new players in particular to catch up.
