One of the new snippets of information about Journey to Un'Goro that didn't somehow get leaked ahead of the announcement was the new Adapt mechanic. If you're just getting up to speed on all-things Un'Goro, we thought we'd put together a quick Adapt guide that explains how it all works.

It's actually pretty simple, and not a million miles away from the way Kazakus works in Gadgetzan. In the Un'Goro set though, certain cards will feature a new keyword called Adapt. When you play these cards onto the board, you'll be given the opportunity to add one of three extra effects to the minion before it spawns. Those three options are themselves drawn from a pool of ten possible tweaks.

Journey to Un'Goro coverage:

@Bedders Yes, you could, for example, have a spell that says ' Adapt any minion on the board' or a minion that can 'Battlecry: Adapt a minion' and then it makes it clear what you're talking about whereas reusing discover could be more problematic.

Looks cool, I like to have decisions to make mid-game to counter my opponent's board or deck.

@HeavyPlastic Yeah I see what you mean, but I think they're just trying to make a mechanic that is unique to the set.

It may make a lot more sense when we see the whole card pool and have an idea of how the broader synergies and new deck archetypes are going to stack up. I quite like it as a cool thing in its own right!

To be honest, I don't really get that Adapt Mechanism...

Isn't it just another name for Discovery? Works pretty much the same, doesn't it?

They could've just make the text: “Discover a card effect“
