Our Hearthstone Hallow's End guide contains start and end dates for the Halloween event, and details of the free pack and Arena ticket rewards.
A new special event is coming to Hearthstone at the end of this month, and it goes by the name of Hallow's End. This is, of course, the in-game take on the Halloween season, and sees the Headless Horseman putting on a suitably spooky show for players of the game.
Not only will there be a feast of free packs and Arena tickets to enjoy during the event, the upcoming update will also add a surprising new - temporary - multi-hero twist on the Arena mode. As well as that, you'll get to tackle a special Tavern Brawl against the Headless Horseman, using a multi-class deck and a completely new passive Hero Power.
To help you get on top of all of these exciting new developments for Hearthstone, we've put together a complete guide to every aspect of the Hallow's End event. Once the update is actually live we'll put together comprehensive guides to every last element of it, and add links to those deep-dives from the relevant sections of these very articles.
Hallow's End start and end dates
Hearthstone's Hallow's End event will begin on Tuesday 24th October and end on Monday 6th November. The exact end times have yet to be confirmed by Blizzard, but we'll add them in as soon as they become available.
Based on the rewards section of the guide - see below - it seems reasonable to assume that things will kick off at 11:00am PDT on the 24th and end at 10:00pm PDT on the 6th. Again that's speculation on our part, based on the log-in windows for other elements of the promotion.
Here's how those times translate to other regions around the world:
- US: 11:00am PDT
- UK: 7:00pm BST
- Europe: 8:00pm CEST
Things get a little more complicated with the end time due to the fact that daylight savings changes will affect the relative timing between regions. Please check your local timezone before adding UK and European hours onto the 10:00pm PDT end time.

Hallow's End rewards
If you log in to the game during specific game windows you'll receive a handful of pretty generous freebies. Here's what you'll get during each weekly reset while the event is live - note the specific log-in times you need to observe:
October 24th 11am PDT - October 30th 10:00pm
Log in during this window and you'll not only receive a free Whispers of the Old Gods card pack, you'll also get a free Arena ticket which lets you complete a run for absolutely zero cost.
October 31st 12.01am PDT - November 5th 10:00pm
In the second promotion slot you'll receive a Knights of the Frozen Throne card pack and another free Arena ticket!
Dual class Arena
Hearthstone's Arena mode is being given a makeover as well. For the duration of Hallow's End, you'll be able to choose a hero as usual but then pick a totally different hero power.
During the draft process - where you form your deck of 30 cards - you'll be able to choose cards from both classes, along with the usual assortment of Neutral cards.
We'll be back with tips for hero combos as soon as we've had a chance to play around with the event ourselves. Stay tuned for a comprehensive guide on getting more from your free ticket.
(Note that if you have an active Arena run when the Hallow's End event begins on October 24th, it'll be retired, you'll get rewards based on the wins you've accrued up to that point, and then be awarded your free Arena ticket. If you reckon you're sitting on a red-hot 12-win deck, make sure you finish things up ahead of time!)
Tricky Tavern Brawl
There'll be a unique Hearthstone Tavern Brawl to mark the spooky season. This event will run from Wednesday 25th October to Saturday 28th October.
The theme of this event sees the Headless Horseman running rampage through the countryside, and your job is to take him down! When the Brawl begins, you'll first of all have to choose a costume using the Discover process. Each costume contains its own deck packed with cards from multiple classes, and you'll also get a new passive Hero Power to use as well. This new power is apparently an essential tool for bringing down the Horseman.
As soon as the event goes live we'll be adding a massive guide to completing the Brawl, so stay tuned for that.
