Heal Paladin deck list guide - Rastakhan - Hearthstone (December 2018)

Our guide to playing the off-meta deck.

Heal Paladin is a Hearthstone deck archetype that exploits a number of the healing options available to the hero for its strength. Although this is not a particularly powerful deck to play in the current meta, it's widely expected that Rastakhan's Rumble will give the concept a pretty strong shot in the arm.

For that reason, we wanted to put together a quick guide to playing Heal Paladin that will let you get a few practise sessions in ahead of the new expansion. We've got a deck list for you, as well as a rundown of the core combos contained within it.

As we approach launch, we'll drop in a theorycrafted deck list that features the core new cards from the set. If the deck proves popular, we'll then properly expand this deck guide into the kind of article you're used to seeing on Metabomb.

Heal Paladin tips, combos and synergies

Here are some of the core combos that exist in this exact version of Heal Paladin. Reading through these should give you good insight into how the deck plays:

- As long as Crystalsmith Kangor is out in play, healing effects from all sources will be applied with twice the strength.

- Hit End Turn and Benevolent Djinn will restore three points of Health to your hero.

- Blackguard will convert the healing you give back to your hero into damage, which is targeted at a random enemy minion.

- Cast Spikeridged Steed on a friendly minion and it will gain +2 / +6 stats and the Taunt mechanic. When that minion is destroyed, a 2 / 6 minion with Taunt will be summoned in its place.

- When you put Sunkeeper Tarim into play, all other minions are given 3 / 3 stats. This can be used to upgrade your own minor minions, or bring the opponent's down to size. Do some smart trading first if it sets you up with a preferential board state.

- Uther of the Ebon Blade transforms your hero and gives you a 5 / 3 weapon with Lifesteal. It also grants you a new Hero Power which summons one of four Horseman. If you can get all four Horsemen out on the board at the same time, you'll instantly destroy your opponent.

- At the end of your turn, The Lich King will select a Death Knight card at random and add it to your hand. These are the options you can draw into:

CostNameDescription
2Death CoilDeal 5 damage to an enemy, or restore 5 Health to a friendly character.
2Death GripSteal a minion from your opponent's deck and add it to your hand.
2ObliterateDestroy a minion. Your hero takes damage equal to its Health.
3Death and DecayDeal 3 damage to all enemies.
4Anti-Magic ShellGive your minions +2 / +2 and “Can't be targeted by spells or Hero Powers.”
5Doom PactDestroy all minions. Remove the top card from your deck for each minion destroyed.
6Army of the DeadRemove the top 5 cards of your deck. Summony any minions removed.
7FrostmourneDeathrattle: Summon every minion killed by this [5 / 3] weapon.
