Our Plot Twist Warlock deck list guide features the best Rise of Shadows deck list for Season 64 of Hearthstone (July 2019). Our Plot Twist Warlock guide will also be updated with Mulligan advice, card combos and strategy tips.

Plot Twist Warlock is a Hearthstone deck archetype that has seen some play in the new Rise of Shadows meta. Sadly, it doesn’t appear to be making much of a mark in the game so far, with a very low win rate and massive indecision on what version of the deck to run. It is definitely not a safe play, but if you’ve got the dust spare and want to try something new then read on!

Initially, it seemed as if the aim of the deck would be to make use of the new Plot Twist card from the latest expansion, in order to refill and shuffle your deck full of Portals that summon additional 2/2 Demons with Rush whenever they are drawn. That doesn’t seem to be the case now, with the latest version throwing in a lot of healing and Hakkar, the Soulflayer as the win condition. It’s still not a convincing list.

Nevertheless, though, we’ve got one of the most played Plot Twist Warlock decks for you here. It may see some changes over the coming weeks to be more viable or it may fade off into obscurity. Either way, be cautious with crafting too many expensive cards. If it asserts itself in the meta we’ll expand this guide with a whole load of extra advice.

General strategy

Plot Twist Warlock is centred around the powerful reshuffle and redraw effect from the new Plot Twist spell from Rise of Shadows. The aim of the deck is to combine that with the many powerful shuffle and draw effects available to Warlock in order to generate some serious value, while playing a heavy Control game in the early stages.

You’ll want to hold off on using Plot Twist until you’ve managed to fill your deck with Portals through the Portal Keeper and Portal Overfiend cards. Fill up your hand as much as you can with Life Tap and then surprise your opponent with a Plot Twist to bring multiple Demons onto the board. Casting Plot Twist while Fel Lord Betrug is on the board is also a very effective way to create a wide board.

Plot Twist Warlock tips, combos and synergies

These are some of the main combos available to Plot Twist Warlock. Memorising these will give you the best shot at victory when piloting the deck.

- Augmented Elekk has obvious synergy with your shuffling spells, and so you want to have this creature out in play before making any big shuffle moves if at all possible.

- Remember that the damage inflicted by Hellfire affects not only minions on both sides of the board, but both heroes as well.

- Note that Aranasi Broodmother's bonus effect - beyond Taunt - is to restore health when she's drawn. Given the shuffling options you have, this will prove to be a very handy way of keeping your hero topped up.

- Portal Keeper and Portal Overfiend both have important synergy with the new Portal card which summons a 2 / 2 minion with Rush onto the board when drawn. Again, you want to use cards like Augmented Elekk to gain as much value as you can in this regard.

- If you fancy a gamble then Arch-Villain Rafaam can be one of the deck’s most thrilling cards as it replaces your entire hand and deck with Legendary minions. If you receive something good from this you can often storm into a huge lead.

- Fel Lord Betrug has some powerful synergy with Plot Twist as it can summon any of the minions your draw directly onto the battlefield with Rush. They may die the same turn but it’s a good way to catch up when behind on the board.

Yeah, the update for this deck list sucks. For the last 8 hours I've been hopping between casual and ranked and I've won a single game with the Rise of Shadows updated decklist. The consistency is barely there, everything is staged for the very late game, and the deck is so focused on gimmick heals as a way to survive that it just flops before it can even get moving. The amount of dust I wasted making this decklist isn't great either. I have 70 dust left. For a deck that can't even lift its fat a$$ off the deck.
