Our Odd Quest Warrior deck list guide features the best deck list for The Witchwood (April 2018). Our Odd Quest Warrior guide will also be updated with Mulligan advice, card combos and strategy tips.

Baku the Mooneater is a curious new card that's coming with The Witchwood expansion at some point in April. If you include this card in your deck - and also include odd-cost cards exclusively - then your Hero Power gets upgraded. It's the same effect as that which was provided by Justicar Trueheart in the previously rotated Grand Tournament expansion.

That means the Warrior will gain the Tank Up! Hero Power, which provides a generous four points of Armour for two Mana. In order to make a Baku Warrior deck though you have to give up access to some pretty potent class cards. In this article, we wanted to highlight all of the class cards that are excluded in this sort of Warrior deck.

First of all we've got a deck list that you can get started with, along with a breakdown of the combos it contains. This will be updated with Mulligan and detailed strategy advice once the shape of the deck has been refined somewhat. After that we've got lists of the cards you won't be able to use in a Baku deck of your own!

UPDATE - THE WITCHWOOD

Here's the first interesting spanner in the works for the Witchwood meta. Although Odd Quest Warrior was widely predicted to be a dominant deck, it turns out that the non-Baku version is proving even more powerful.

This one's out to the jury right now, in other words. To help you work this one out, we're highlighting the most competitive versions of both decks for the moment. Once the meta has worked itself out, we'll draw a line under the best version. Nice to have a genuine conundrum in a new meta for once though, eh?

(Note that the combo breakdown in this article only applies to the Odd Quest Warrior list.)

Odd Quest Warrior tips and card combos

We'll update this guide with all of the Mulligan and strategy advice you're used to once a refined deck list has emerged from the live meta. In the meantime, here are the combos that power this particular version of the deck:

- In order to complete the Fire Plume's Heart quest, you're going to need to play a total of seven Taunt minions. Once you've done so, you'll receive a 3 Mana 4 / 2 weapon that gives you a new Hero Power too! This does eight points of damage to a randomly targeted enemy.

- The amount of Armor you have will be delivered to friendly and enemy minions as damage when Reckless Flurry is cast.

- Remember that Tar Lord and Tar Creeper only have their extra Attack power on the opponent's turn. You might need to do a bit of partial trading to set things up problematically for the other player.

- Shield Slam does more damage to its target for each point of Armor you have at the time of casting it.

- Phantom Militia has the Echo ability, and that means it can be played as many times on the current turn as you wish - as long as you have the Mana to keep casting it, that is. This is particularly helpful for getting you caught up on your Quest progress.

- Witchwood Grizzly loses a point of Health for each card in your opponent's hand when you play it. Make sure you do the sums carefully before committing this minion to protect your board!

- Baku the Mooneater grants you the Tank Up! Hero Power, which grants four points of Armor rather than the usual two. This new power is triggered at the very start of a match - you don't have to wait for Baku to show up in your hand or be played.

In the next section of our guide, you'll find details of all the signature class cards that you can't make use of in your own Odd Warrior decks.
