Fortnite patch v9.20 has introduced a new Storm Flip throwable item, which produces an expanding safe or storm zone depending on the environment it shatters in.
Chuck the Storm Flip in an area ravaged by the Storm and it’ll create a spherical, protective zone in which you can seek some respite and tend to your wounds, buy time or revive your allies.
If the Storm Flip shatters in a safe area, the sphere takes on the Storm’s form and produces an expanding field of pain instead.
We can see the Storm Flip being used as a zoning tool to flush enemies out of a hiding spot or give players time to bring their teammates back from the brink of death. All in all, it's a pretty handy addition to the game which will likely see a lot of use.
Here’s a look at the new item in action:
Elsewhere the Hunting Rifle has been vaulted as Epic believes it has “become somewhat outclassed by the Infantry Rifle after it was changed to hitscan”. It’s likely Epic will bring it back after some tinkering, though - don't despair Hunting Rifle fans, it'll be back one day.
To round things off, the Mounted Turret’s Overheat now take 20% longer, Loot Carriers have been toned down slightly and there’s a whole host of bug fixes too.
