A significant new Fortnite esports tournament kicks off later on this week, one which will see some of the world's best players competing for their piece of a whopping $600,000 prize pool.

Named the Fortnite ESL Katowice Royale Tournament, the competition will take place across two weekends, and will feature approximately 200 players and influencers.

The first weekend of play will see competitors from the Polish region go head to head for $100,000. International competitors will then get stuck into each other on the second weekend for a share of $500,000.

The start and end dates have been confirmed as Saturday 23rd February and Sunday 3rd March.

The opening Polish competition will begin with a Duos round on 23rd February, before moving onto Solos on the 24th February.

Play kicks off for the international crowd on Friday 1st March with a Solos match-up. Saturday and Sunday's formats will be Duos.

Matches will begin each day at 12:00am local time. Metabomb understands that all stages of the tournament will be broadcast on Fortnite's official Twitch channel.
