The Fortnite 5.10 patch notes have just been published by Epic Games, confirming today's launch of the game's first birthday celebrations, a new weapon, and the return of the Playground limited time mode.
A number of special cosmetic items will shortly be available in the game to mark Fortnite's first anniversary, and there'll be a series of special challenges to work through if you want to get your hands on them.
Meanwhile, the Playground mode will allow you to team up with buddies in a sandbox environment and practise your building work thanks to increased availability of materials. All drop rates are improved in this mode, allowing you to get some hands-on time with some of the game's more elusive items.
As for the new weapon, the Compact SMG will be making its first appearance in the game a little later on today. Designed for close-quarters combat, the Combat SMG has a blisteringly high fire-rate and a solid ammo clip to back up that immense firepower. We'll have a guide to getting more from the weapon up on the site a little later on today.
The more detailed patch notes reveal a host of further changes to the game, from drop-rate tweaks to consumable adjustments. Head over to the official announcement if you'd like to pore over all the nitty-gritty details of the patch.
