Our Fortnite: Battle Royale Skins page contains a visual guide to every outfit - free and premium - that's currently available in the game.
Playing Fortnite: Battle Royale wearing the same clobber as everyone else is going to affect your core gameplay at all. Let's be honest though, it's hard not to feel at least a little bit jealous of that other player who's dressed up like a medieval knight, or looks fully ready to hit the disco in some ridiculous outfit.
How do you actually get your hands on new skins in the game though? You've actually got a few options, and most of them do - ultimately - involve you handing over at least a little spare change. Still, it keeps the servers running for free at least, which seems like a reasonable deal to us.
For a start, players who choose to invest in the Battle Pass system can make progress unlocking some very special outfits just by playing the game. As you gain XP with this system, you hit new tiers which provide you with new cosmetic rewards. Not only that, each new season of competitive play introduces new items to unlock, so there's always something new to unlock and show off to the other 99 players in your game.
If you're looking to buy something outright (get you, moneybags), then you can also head to the Item Shop. The goodies here are all designed for those who have more cash than time, and want to bag something straight away without having to grind out a huge number of games.
To help you get to grips with all this info, we've put together a handy guide to every outfits that's been released throughout Battle Royale's history. We've also provided details of what you can unlock right this second, including new skins that have just entered the Item Shop. We'll constantly update this guide as new outfits are added to the game, so keep checking back!
Editor's Note: We've updated this guide with all the latest Item Shop skins, including the Dark Vanguard, Cipher and Leviathan outfits too. You'll find them all in the section below entitled "Paid for skins". Stay tuned for regular updates as more outfits are released!
How do I unlock new outfits?
To purchase outfits you’ll first need to buy V-Bucks with real world currency.
V-Bucks are virtual currency used to purchase items from the Item Shop or buy the Battle Pass itself.
Here’s a breakdown of V-Bucks pricing.
- 1,000 V-bucks: $9.99 USD
- 2,500 V-bucks (+300 Bonus): $24.99 USD
- 6,000 V-bucks (+1,500 Bonus): $59.99 USD
- 10,000 V-bucks (+3,500 Bonus): $99.99 USD
If you want to get hold of V-Bucks without forking out the cash, look no further than our how to get V-Bucks for free guide!
The Item Shop - as the name suggests - is a store where you can purchase cosmetics. It’s home to various outfits, gliders, pickaxes and emotes. To purchase these items, you’ll need to get hold of some V-Bucks.
Some cosmetic items in Fortnite: BR are limited-time. This means they’ll only stick around for a day, week or month before they’re permanently removed from the game.
Check into the Item Shop and it'll be selling 2 featured items and 6 daily items. The featured items are usually Epic or Legendary offerings that come in at around 2000 or 1500 V-Bucks and last for a week before rotating out.
Daily items rotate out...well, daily. There's a fair amount of choice too, with 2 Epic Outfits for 2000, 2 Rare Outfits for 1,200 each, 1 Common for 800 and 1 Rare Glider for 800.
The Battle Pass is your ticket to unlocking rewards progressively throughout a season. The more you play, the more goodies you’ll earn.
Here’s how it works:
- Buy the Battle Pass using V-Bucks.
- Play matches and earn EXP. This will level up your Battle Pass.
- When you earn another level, you unlock a new item.
- There are 65+ rewards to unlock.
- If you’re itching to level up faster so you can get to those juicer unlocks faster, you can buy more levels with V-Bucks.

Here are all the outfits now available to earn in Season 3's Battle Pass!
Some skins aren't linked to the Battle Pass and are available to all players - for a fee. All of the outfits below can be purchased in the item store in exchange for V-Bucks. Expect this section to be updated as soon as Epic releases more over time!
Some of these outfits will be available for a limited time only, but they'll rotate back in over time.
Easily the strangest skin in the game so far, Leviathan slaps a fish bowl on your head and turns you into some swamp-space-monster-thing. We're actually huge fans of this outlandish outfit and hope that Epic produces more of wacky skins for us to whip our wallets out for.
It's in the Item Shop for 2,000 V-Bucks.
Kit yourself out in top of the range spyware with the Cipher Outfit.
It's available to purchase in the Item Shop for 1,200 V-Bucks.
In keeping with Season 3's space theme, Dark Vanguard dresses you up in a slick looking space explorer outfit with orange and purple hits.
You can grab this skin for 2,000 V-Bucks in the Item Shop.
Bunny Brawler and Rabbit Raider
As part of Fortnite's Easter celebrations, Epic's introduced the Bunny Brawler and Rabit Raider outfits that dress your characters in cutesy bunny onesies.
They're available for 1,500 V-Bucks each and come complete with Eggshell Back Blings as well!
Available for 2000 V-Bucks in the Item Shop, the Power Chord outfit lets you express your inner rockstar.
You'll also receive the Six String Back Bling along with the skin too.
Purchase Fortnite: Battle Royale's Starter Pack for $4.99 and you'll get the Rogue Agent Outfit with it!
It also comes with a Catalyst Back Bling to match and 600 V-Bucks, we'd say that's pretty good value.
Another Saint Patrick's day skin has emerged, and this time it's the Battle Hound.
We've posted an image of this new outfit just below.
In case you're wondering (because we certainly were), "Laoch" means "Warrior" or "Layman" in Old Irish and derives from the Late Latin meaning for "Layman" and Ancient Greek "of the people". The brief time we've spent digging around for references to the "Hound" points toward the Irish tale of Cú Chulainn, a mythological hero who slays the fierce guard dog of a blacksmith called Culann. He's also often referred to as the "Hound of Ulster", so there we have it - a bit of background for you all.
You can get hold of this outfit in the Item Shop right now for 2000 V-Bucks. We imagine it won't stick round for too long, so make sure you get on it quick!
Here's a look at the Highland Warrior skin which is also part of the Saint Patrick's day set.
It's available in the Item Shop for a cool 1,500 V-Bucks, so make sure you purchase it when the event next swings around!
Sgt. Green Clover
Fortnite's celebrating Saint Patrick's day with a leprechaun themed skin of course!
Take a look for yourself just below.
It's available in the Item Shop for 800 V-Bucks, so it's surprisingly cheap in comparison to most other skins in the shop. For the complete look, you can pair this outfit with the special O' Gold Pickaxe too.
To unlock the new Rex skins, players will need to spend 2000 V-Bucks. It's a hefty sum, but for a skin that also comes with a matching Back Bling, you'll be getting your money's worth.
Here's a picture of the dinosaur themed outfit below.
Rex's Back Bling can also be mix and matched with other outfits. So if you want to be a spaceman rocking a dinosaur's tail, then you can!
Available in the Item Shop for a limited time, Fortnite's Battle Royale's now got a Biker themed skin entitled "Burnout". It looks slick to say the very least, so it's definitely one outfit worth purchasing if you want to earn a Victory Royale while looking your best.
Here's an image of Burnout below.
You can purchase "Burnout" for 1,500 V-Bucks from the Item Shop and it'll be available to equip in the Locker before the game starts.
Some skins don't require any V-Bucks purchases or real world currency. Here's our continuously updated list of all the free outfits you can earn in Fortnite: Battle Royale.
