Our Fortnite 1st Birthday Celebration Challenges guide contains a list of all the challenges in Fortnite’s anniversary event, including tips, tricks and strategy advice for completing each one and earning the birthday cosmetic set.

It feels like Fortnite’s dominated the videogame world for decades, going from a cartoony alternative to the biggest game at the time, PUBG, to something that’s been featured on mainstream media - one of Fortnite’s dances even appeared in the World Cup final!

What’s staggering then, is that Fortnite’s only 1 years old.

Starting on July 24th Epic’s celebrating Fortnite’s first anniversary with a limited time in-game event which contains a number of challenges that’ll give you a chance at earning a special birthday cosmetic set.

It’s worth quickly noting that these challenges are purely cosmetic based, so you won’t be awarded Battle Stars for your efforts.

Withour further ado, let’s get stuck into these Fortnite birthday challenges. We’ll outline what they entail and give you some advice for completing them too.

Fortnite 1st Birthday Challenges List

Here’s a quick overview of all the birthday challenges. Scroll down to the section below for advice on getting them done quickly.

  • Play matches (14) - Reward: XP 5000
  • Deal damage to opponents (1000) - Reward: Fortnite Birthday! Emoticon
  • Dance in front of different Birthday Cakes (10) - Reward: Happy Birthday! Spray

Play matches

For this challenge you’ve got to complete 14 matches in total. Of course, you’ll get this done over time as you play the game naturally, but if you’re in a hurry then it’s best to play aggressively rather than sneak around.

Although you might get eliminated quickly if you’re being aggressive, you’ll at least be working towards the second challenge on this list, as well as finishing matches much faster than if you were skulking around aiming for the win 100% of the time.

Deal damage to opponents

Again, this one isn’t too tricky. Dish out 1000 damage throughout the limited time event and you’ll earn the birthday spray.

To accelerate your progress we’d advise taking the aggressive approach. Always be on the lookout for any fights that you can get involved in, and farm materials when you’re travelling between destinations so you’re always prepared for a build-off.

Populated areas like Tilted Towers are a hive of activity early on in matches, so aim to land fast, grab some gear before anyone else does and rattle off some rounds while your opponents either scramble around looking for a weapon or smack you with their pickaxes. Getting stuck into the action early is a surefire way of getting some damage on the board, and if it doesn't go well, just hop into a new match and try again.

In terms of weaponry, we’d recommend sticking with the classic setup: Assault Rifle, Shotgun/SMG and a Sniper. Have some explosive grenades to hand for some easy splash damage, or get hold of a Rocket Launcher or Grenade Launcher for better spamability. With all this, you’ve got any situation covered.

Dance in front of different Birthday Cakes

By far the toughest challenge of the lot, this one tasks you with dancing in front of 10 different Birthday Cakes scattered across Fortnite’s map.

Much like the “Dance in front of Omega/Carbide Posters” challenge back in Season 4, these Birthday Cakes are going to be tucked away in a number of unassuming places which’ll make them pretty difficult to track down.

Head over to our All Birthday Cake locations page for the latest updates on how to track down these items.

This concludes the first edition of our 1st Birthday Celebration Challenges guide, but we’ll keep it updated once the limited event goes live. Keep this page bookmarked for all the latest tips, tricks and strategy advice!
