A complete overhaul of the ranked system in Dota Underlords will be arriving very soon.
Developer fletcherd announced the news in a Dota Underlords Discord server Q & A session, and said the team is working on “an overhaul to ranked” which will “make the progression more clear/predictable”.
Despite fletcherd expressing hope that the ranked update would arrive next week, another developer finol stepped in to confirm that the new system won’t be arriving next week, “but very soon”, instead.
No further details are given regarding the ranked changes, so players will have to wait until the update goes live to see what’s new.
The Q & A also yielded a handful of extra teases for upcoming content, including a UI rework, a 1 vs 1 mode “scheduled for next week” and a continued effort to add new models for upgraded units.
The current ranked system in Dota Underlords is best described as barebones. Unlike other competitive games where progression is clearly marked by points earned, lost or the like, Dota Underlords provides players with no tools to tell where they are placed on the ladder.
With this in mind, it’s likely the overhaul will introduce an intuitive points system, whereby reaching the top four in matches will earn you points towards the next rank, while losing out early may see you drop points - here's hoping.
