High dynamic range (HDR) lighting and adaptive 4K resolution will be coming to the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X versions of Destiny 2. The patch will be deployed on 5th December 2017, along with the Curse of Osiris DLC and Season Two.

Bungie confirmed the news in their weekly blog post and kept information on this graphical upscaling nice and brief.

Adaptive 4K for both of these consoles means that Destiny 2’s resolution will be upscaled to provide greater environmental detail, while HDR ensures preservation of details that may be lost due to limiting contrast ratios. In other words, it’ll look far more polished.

This will come as welcome news to owners of both consoles as it means their beefier hardware will be utilised fully. While we imagine this patch won’t bring Destiny 2’s graphics up to par with the likes of a huge PC gaming rig, it’s still going to look and feel fantastic nonetheless.
