About Ed Thorn

Ed's a huge fan of rushing B in CS:GO and grinding it out in Destiny 2. He will not rest until a new Wario Land is announced.

Our Warlock Voidwalker guide contains all of the subclass’s abilities, passive abilities, grenades, rifts and other skills.

Warlocks are the hybrid spellcasters of Destiny, combining their magical powers with that of modern weaponry to blast their opponents, before finishing them off in a hail of bullets. Voidwalkers harness the power of Void energy to obliterate their enemies, and focus on the strength of their offensive capabilities to overcome their defensive vulnerabilities.

The Warlock has two other subclasses, one being the Solar-focused Dawnblade, and the other is yet to be revealed. For now, we’ve put together all the information you need to know about the Voidwalker subclass’s abilities and skills below.

When you’re done reading up on the Voidwalker, make sure you take a look through our Subclass guide for all the information on the other subclasses that are playable in the sequel. We’ve also got an enormous Destiny 2 guide which will give you a comprehensive overview of everything coming to the game, so take a look if you’re after far more info!

Editor's UPDATE #3: We've got a brand new section on why the Devour Voidwalker is one of the best Subclass builds in the game, honestly, it'll turn you into an unstoppable monster. You'll find all the information you need on this ridiculous build just below. We'll continue updating this guide with more content when we discover more strategies and tips. Stay tuned for more very soon!

Why you should be running Devour Voidwalker

If you’re after one of the most overpowered builds in Destiny 2, well, you’ve chosen the right Class. While you might think that Titans should be able to shake off the most damage and charge courageously into battle, the Warlock Voidwalker ousts them completely.

It’s all thanks to the Attunement of Hunger and the Devour skill, “Strike an enemy with this Melee ability to fully regenerate your health. For a short time afterward, kills restore additional health.” It may not seem like much when you’re reading it on screen, but in the flesh it’s something to behold and lets you soak up damage almost endlessly.

Below we’ve embedded a video which’ll put this mind-blowing survivability into perspective. Skip to 6:15 for the small highlight clip.

To make it work, you simply need to put all your skill points into the Attunement of Hunger and select it as your main skill tree. Although the Devour perk states that you need to strike an enemy with your fists to get it started, this isn’t actually the case. Consume some Super charge with your grenade (Chaos Accelerant) to kick the Devour skill off and you’ll have 9 seconds to eliminate another target to refresh it again - healing you tremendously in the process. What’s more, there’s no cap on how many times you refresh Devour, so it’s possible to keep it going for an entire Strike!

Super Ability: Nova Bomb

  • Press [L1+R1] to hurl an explosive bolt of Void Light at the enemy, disintegrating those caught within its blast.

Make sure you check out our Super guide for more tips and tricks on how to master the Warlock Voidwalker's Nova Bomb ability.

Attunement of Chaos

  • Entropic Pull: Strike an enemy with this Melee Ability to drain your enemy's life force and use it to recharge your grenade.
  • Chaos Accelerant: Hold [L1] to draw power from your Super to overcharge your grenade, making it deadlier and more effective.
  • Bloom: Void ability kills cause enemies to explode.
  • Cataclysm:Nova Bomb travels slowly and seeks enemies. Detonations shatter into smaller seeker projectiles. Fire your weapon at the Nova Bomb to detonate it early.

Chaos Accelerant Analysis

We’d like to draw attention to one particular skill within the Attunement of Chaos tree that’s unique to the Warlock Voidwalker, and exceptionally powerful. We’ve done this because it’s actually an ability that’s so under the radar we did a double take when we first glanced at it.

Chaos Accelerant works by drawing power from your Super bar and channeling it into your grenade. We’ve embedded a video below which shows this ability in action so you can see its potential uses for yourselves.

Here’s a breakdown of exactly how Chaos Accelerant works and what situations to employ it in.

Effects

  • When used with Vortex Grenade the damage radius is much larger than normal.
  • When used with Axion Bolt, it doubles the number of seeker charges from two to four.
  • Scatter Grenade usually detonates and splinters into a smaller charges that don’t track enemies. When using Chaos Accelerant, it gives these small charges the power to seek enemies, homing in on them to deal damage.
  • The duration you charge the grenade for has no effect on the damage output. So, all it takes to reach maximum charge is the initial animation. There’s no difference between a grenade that’s been charged for five seconds, to one that’s been charged for only a couple seconds.
  • Movement is largely unhindered. Although sprinting cancels all your charge, so be warned!

Uses

  • We reckon Chaos Accelerant is best used in a PVE environment where you’ve got time to charge the grenade and obliterate multiple enemies. In the fast paced arenas of PVP, you simply won’t have enough time to “charge and fling”.
  • Axion Grenade is the strongest choice of grenade for both PVE and PVP, purely because the homing mini-grenades are almost always guaranteed damage - it’s easy to miss.

Attunement of Hunger

  • Devour: Kill an enemy with this melee ability to fully regenerate your health. For a short time afterward, kills restore additional health.
  • Feed the Void: Hold [L1] to consume your grenade energy to regenerate your health. Grants the Devour effect.
  • Insatiable:While the Devour effect is active, killing enemies extends its duration and recharges your grenade.
  • Vortex: Nova Bomb creates a singularity which continually damages enemies trapped inside.

Grenades

  • Vortex Grenade:A grenade that creates a Vortex which continually damages enemies trapped inside.
  • Axion Bolt: A bolt of Void Light that forks into smaller bolts on impact that seek out enemies.
  • Scatter Grenade: A grenade that splits into many submunitions and covers a large area with multiple explosions.

Rifts

There are two types of Rift associated with the Warlock class.

  • Healing Rift: Press and hold circle to conjure a well of Light that continuously heals those inside it.
  • Empowering Rift: Press and hold circle to conjure a well of Light that increases the attack power of those inside it.

Glides

  • Strafe Glide: Jump while airborne to activate Glide and start an airborne drift with strong directional control.
  • Blink: Jump while ariborne to teleport a short distance.
  • Burst Glide: Jump while ariborne to activate Glide and start an airborne drift with a strong initial boost of speed.
