About Ed Thorn

Ed's a huge fan of rushing B in CS:GO and grinding it out in Destiny 2. He will not rest until a new Wario Land is announced.

Our Destiny 2 Season 3 guide contains everything you need to know about the content updates coming to the game later this year.

According to Bungie’s development roadmap, Destiny 2’s third season is likely to launch sometime in May this year and with it will come a whole bunch of changes.

As opposed to the original Destiny, Destiny 2 is split into different seasons worth of content which makes following the game’s changes much easier and sets it up for large patches when transitioning into a fresh season.

Seasonal update range from minor bug fixes and helpful UI updates, to brand new game modes and exciting new systems to master. It’s safe to say that Bungie has received some stick in regards to the state of Destiny 2 in the past few months and it’s development roadmap is a positive sign. From the looks of things, we’re in for some solid changes moving into Season 3 and beyond, but what’s most important here is that these are tweaks the community has been asking for above else.

Without further ado, let’s dive into the development roadmap and take a look at what Bungie’s promised for Season 3.

Editor’s Note: Do bear in mind that this is the first edition of our Season 3 guide and we’ll continue updating it as we learn more throughout the year. Keep this page bookmarked for all the latest on what’s in store for Destiny 2!

Season 3 Release Date

Currently Bungie haven’t given us a clear release time or day, but we know that Season 3 is going live May 2018.

Of course, you won’t have to wait that long for a major content update. Bungie are still planning on releasing a slew of changes on 27th February and March 2018 in the run up to Season 3.

Season 3 Planned Changes

Here’s a breakdown of what updates are scheduled for release when Season 3 kicks off in May this year.

  • Eater of Worlds Prestige Mode
  • Seasonal Crucible Rankings
  • Private Matches
  • Vault Space Increase
  • Multi-Emote
  • Exotic Masterworks
  • Seasonal Vendor Progression
  • Faction Rallies Improvements
  • Mods System Improvements

What Season 3 changes are we excited for?

Seasonal Crucible Rankings

This one’s been a long time coming, but we can’t wait for a proper ranking system to hit Destiny 2’s competitive PVP modes. It’s a chance for players to prove their skill and show off their ranking to other Guardians.

The promise of shiny badges and icons to signify your skill level is what the competitive matchmaking playlist needs. Finally, a real incentive for players to grind out games in the Crucible!

Vault Space Increase

Destiny 2’s a collecting game, but there simply isn’t enough space to store all the gear you’ve acquired. Finally we’ll all be able to keep every last piece of juicy loot we can’t bear to part with.

Seasonal Vendor Progression

At the moment vendors in Destiny 2 become irrelevant once you’ve hit max-level and collected all they have to offer, which really isn’t that much. We’re looking forward to proper reputation ranks and hopefully a heap of powerful and unique loot that’ll have us grinding for hours on end.

Faction Rallies Improvements

We don’t have much information to go on, and we don’t know what’s planned here - but we’re happy. Earning Faction Rally tokens for generic activities you’d already be doing anyway isn’t exactly that enjoyable, so lets hope we get some unique incentives with this update.

Mods System Improvements

Perhaps the change with the most potential. The Mod system is pretty thin at the moment, but a complete rework with crazy, unique and customisable upgrades will positively impact the entire game.

There are so many possibilities with the overhauled Mod system, we just hope Bungie pull it off.

  • On the surface it all. Sounds good. But so farbungie has delivered very little and what is is of por quality .. in other words. The game thus far has been found wanting , and thus far bungie has not been or shown us much in. This game orits integrity .. D1 was of to a slow problematic start but quickly I'm provedandby yearthree it was the bee's knees D2 is nothing in comparison . It is however excelling in disappointment. Looking at. Game stats from Destiny tracker. It sows 8.8 mill registered players. And the number clearly show about 9% playing and thats giving the stats and numbers all the benefit... in other words Destiny two is played by very few.. i have been playing destiny since day one and i. Now find more new players than veterans. And none of my friends still play .. most simply do not trust bungie after the plethora of lies and deceptions .. may 8th will show th reality of it all .. i personally do not think bungie will ever see its Destiny numbers return to the days of old.. gamers are finicky and at times unreasonable or realistic that said they are also th game world and when they quit they normally do not return.. as for me i now play part time as opposed to full time in D1. I await may 8th if this becomes the troublesome let down of CoO and the D2 campaign and end game. I will not stay either for September dlc. No more wasted time. I will patiently await Anthem as i feelthis will be the next step in gaming popularity Lastly D2 and bungie promised new foe's new maps new weapons new content new every thing. What we have are small new areas few new weapons no new enemy and loads or recycled D1 , to me D@ is Jumped up D1 graphically Improved and dumbed down to mind numbing levels or utter boredom .. D2 is dying if not already dead. It needs the Lazarus affect or A miracle to survive
