Ed will not rest until a new Wario Land is announced.

Our Destiny 2: Symphony of Death Exotic Quest guide explains how to complete the Symphony of Death Exotic Quest and obtain the Deathbringer Exotic weapon in Shadowkeep.

If you’re after the famed Deathbringer Exotic rocket launcher you’ll need to complete a lengthy questline with some pretty finicky bits involved. Below we’ll guide you through the process so you can get your hands on it as quickly as possible.

How to unlock the Symphony of Death quest

To unlock the Symphony of Death quest you will first need to complete all of the Shadowkeep campaign missions. Once you’ve ticked them all off, talk to Eris Morn back at Sanctuary and she’ll give you a Memory of Sai Mota Pursuit to crack on with.

For this mission you’ll need to pick up the Lunar Spelunker Bounty from Eris Morn in order to obtain the Firewall Data Fragment. This Bounty involves completing three Lost Sectors dotted around the Moon: K1 Communion, K1 Crew Quarters and K1 Logistics. Once you’ve done so, navigate to your Quests tab in the Director and select the completed bounty to collect your Firewall Data Fragment.

Next, you will need to go to a fourth and final Lost Sector called K1 Revelation. Reach the end of this Lost Sector and you’ll spot an elevated, orange tunnel. Head inside, run to the end and you’ll spot a large door to your right. Interact with it and insert the data fragment into the console at the end of the room.

This will move you onto the next quest step, which involves taking out Nightmares with Arc abilities in Sorrow’s Harbor. Simply wander up to the pulsating, red orbs circling the harbor to trigger the Nightmares and defeat them using an Arc Subclass. We’d recommend shredding their health bars the usual way, before finishing them with your Arc grenades, your Arc buddy if you’re a Warlock, Arc charge if you’re a Titan, or staff if you’re a Hunter.

They’re pretty tough to defeat, so don’t be afraid to gather a fireteam or wait for random Guardians to help you out. Once you’ve defeated enough Nightmares, talk to Eris via the portal in Sanctuary and open the nearby chest to get the Faculties of the Skull quest step.

Next, mark the new quest on your map and go about the mission.

Once you’ve completed the mission, return to Eris Morn who’ll give you the Marrow’s Elegy item and yet another set of objectives to complete (get in there), they are:

  • Complete a Public Event in the Hellmouth.
  • Clear the K1 Revelation Lost Sector on the Moon.
  • Kill a wandering Bone Collector on the Moon.

The wandering Bone Collector can be found in the Anchor of Light on the Moon. Frustratingly, it’ll randomly spawn in this area so you’ll need to lookout for a yellow bar Hive Acolyte and take it out when you spot it. We’ve found luck near the large Fallen encampment, so try there first.

Next up, you’ll need to jump into the Scarlet Keep Strike and defeat a special enemy which’ll spawn inside. It’s named “Sulmakta, High Conductor”. It will spawn on the second floor of the elevator section, so just keep an eye out for a yellow-bar Wizard on the right hand side.

Here’s Esoterickk with the High Conductor’s exact location:

We’re nearly there. Next, you’ll have the “Of Darkest Harmony” quest step to finish off. This involves:

  • Defeat regular enemies.
  • Defeat elites and mini-bosses.
  • Defeat bosses or other Guardians.

We’d recommend heading to Sorrow’s Harbor and taking on the Nightmares there. If you find this a little too grindy, hop into the K1 Revelation Lost Sector for plenty of enemies and bosses too.

Finally, you’ll need to complete a mission named “Choir of the Damned”, which has a Power requirement of 920. Finish this off and Deathbringer will be yours!
