We’ll guide you through the process involved in unlocking the Vex Offensive activity in Destiny 2.

Destiny 2’s Vex Offensive mode is now live in Shadowkeep for those who’ve purchased the expansion, but it’s not immediately obvious how to go about unlocking it. You’ll notice that you’ll need to complete the quest “Eyes on the Moon”, but it’s not explained how to actually go about ticking off this objective.

Below we’ll give you a step by step breakdown of how to unlock the Vex Offensive activity.

Destiny 2: How to unlock the Vex Offensive activity

Here’s how to go about it:

To begin with, make sure you have a word with Ikora in the Tower. Once you’ve had a natter, she’ll give you the Vex Invasion Emergent Protocol item which can be found in your Quests tab.

It’ll task you with eliminating 100 Vex enemies on the Moon and defeating three Vex Gate Lords. To do so, you’ll need to participate in the Vex Invasion activity which can be found dotted around the Moon.

Consult your map and you’ll spot three Vex Invasion Zones on the Moon. These are where Vex Invasions are likely to happen. Unfortunately, there’s no way to guarantee an Invasion, so it’s more a case of hoping you get lucky while Sparrowing past these areas.

So, our advice would be to simply Sparrow around the Moon, making sure to pass by each of these Vex Invasion areas. Eventually you’ll bump into an invasion, which looks like a big crackling portal in the sky, with tonnes of Vex pouring out of it. Keep an eye out for multiple players on the horizon as this is often a dead giveaway that something is going down.

Now you’re in the thick of an invasion, make sure you’re eliminating as many Vex as possible. Do make sure you’re doubling down on the Gate Lord too, as taking him down will not only reward you with loot and go towards Quest completion, it’ll also trigger another Vex Invasion nearby. This is vital as it means you won’t have to spend a frustrating amount of time scouring the map for another Invasion, and should mean you can complete this Quest much, much faster.

Once you’ve defeated 100 Vex and three Gate Lords, your Quest will update. Talk to Eris Morn in the Sanctuary Landing Zone to finish things up and unlock the Vex Offensive activity!

You’ll find the activity in the Director, on the left side of the Moon map screen. Simply click on the icon and you’ll enter matchmaking.
