Our Destiny 2 Festival of the Lost guide contains everything you need to know about this year’s Halloween event, including start times, activities, quests, masks and rewards.
Destiny 2’s first Halloween event kicks off shortly and it’s going to be packed with all sorts of activities to sink your fangs into.
The Tower’s getting a haunted makeover, with screenshots showing off lots of purple candles and Engram-themed lanterns hanging around. It’s not only visual updates to be found her, however, as there’s also a brand new mystery questline, a Haunted forest, mask rewards and more.
Throughout the duration of the event you’ll earn double Bright Engrams, and Tess will have a bunch of new cosmetic items for you to purchase. Highlights include the cat Ghost and Shrieker Sparrow - seriously, we’d log-in just for a chance at getting them.
Below we’ve put together a guide that’ll give you an overview of all the new content coming to Destiny 2 with Festival of the Lost, and when it’s all going live.
Destiny 2 Festival of the Lost: Start Dates and Times
Destiny 2’s Festival of the Lost starts on Tuesday, October 16th. Here’s what time it’s due to go live in-game:
- UK: 18:00 (BST)
- Europe: 19:00 (CEST)
- East Coast US: 13:00 (ET)
- West Coast US: 10:00 (PT)
Festival of the Lost ends on Tuesday, November 6th and things will revert back to normal service at the times above.
Destiny 2 Festival of the Lost: Quests and Activities
The Infinite Forest is being transformed into the Haunted Forest for the duration of this event. Players will be tasked with exploring the forest for 15 minutes and clearing out any horrors that lurk inside. It’ll get progressively tougher the further you go, and it supports matchmaking too, so no worries if you’re a solo player.
Murder Mystery Questline
Details are thin on the ground, but on 30th October a special quest will be going live for owners of Forsaken. It’s essentially a murder mystery, where you’ll be solving who or what was behind Master Ives’ murder (the Cryptarch from Destiny 1, located in the Reef).
Complete the quest and you’ll earn a Powerful Reward, which’ll likely be a Powerful Engram or something unique - we’ll just have to wait and see...
Special Bounties and Triumphs
There will be unique Daily Bounties available during the Festival of the Lost which will grant Fragmented Souls. You’ll then cash these souls in for special cosmetic rewards which we’ve covered just below.
Unique Triumphs will also go live and completing them will reward you with special Masks.
Destiny 2 Festival of the Lost: Masks, Engrams and Rewards
You can purchase special Destiny-themed masks using Fragmented Souls, which you earn through completing unique Bounties. Completing Festival of the Lost Triumphs will also reward you with these masks too, so prepare to put the hours in if you want them all.
These Masks are all based on Destiny bosses, characters and the like. They don’t provide any in-game bonuses, but who doesn’t want the screaming Uldren Sov head in their collection?
Horror Story Auto Rifle
A Halloween themed take on the Origin Story Auto Rifle from Season 1 of Destiny 2. We’re not sure how you’ll get hold of this weapon, but it’ll either be a random loot drop or could feature as the “Powerful Reward” at the end of the Murder Mystery questline.
If you do get hold of this weapon, it’ll come with the perks “Zen Moment” and “Rampage”. On top of this, it’ll also drop fully Masterworked at 600 Power - we're unsure if there's a catch here or not.
2x Bright Engrams
Every time you level up you’ll receive a standard Bright Engram, as well as an Ephemeral one too. The latter containing cosmetics from the Festival of the Lost loot pool.
Here’s a snapshot of what’s on offer:
Of course, expect the usual array of emotes too!
