Our awoken talisman quest guide details all the quest steps to help you unlock the dreaming city, including all talisman fragment locations.
Destiny 2’s Forsaken expansion is now live and among the swathe of content that’s been added to the game, there’s one place which everyone wants access to - The Dreaming City.
Completing Forsaken's campaign is just the beginning of the Destiny 2 grind, and let's just say that we're so happy it's back. So, back to business. Once you've taken out all the Baron's and defeated the final boss you'll be given a broken Awoken Talisman by Petra Venj which'll prove to be your key to unlocking access to the Dreaming City. It's an end-game space filled with secrets, activities and most importantly, the Blind Well and the Last Wish Raid.
While the Broken Awoken Talisman gives you quest steps to follow, it's by no means easy to complete. You'll be sent off to collect fragments from Lost Sectors and - you guessed it - a lot more besides.
Just below we've broken down the whole Awoken Talisman questline and provided all the info you need to complete every stage with minimal fuss.
Awoken Talisman Quest - How to unlock the Dreaming City
This page is based on Houndish’s superb video guide which takes us through all the steps that need completing in a really concise format. We’ve linked it down below, so make sure you give it a thumbs up if you found it helpful and consider subscribing for more insightful Destiny 2 content like this.
Complete the Forsaken campaign
It goes without saying that you’ll need to beat Forsaken’s campaign and unlock the character Petra. She’s the one who’ll send you on the Awoken Talisman quest in the first place, so interact with her the moment she’s unlocked.
Broken Awoken Talisman (Part 1)
You’ll receive the Broken Awoken Talisman from Petra, which’ll task you with finding talisman fragments within these Lost Sectors of the Tangled Shore:
- In a rare green place
- In an old Corsair hideout
- In the heart of Spider’s Web
zEnkryption over on Reddit has made a really useful map which shows you exactly where to find each of these Lost Sectors on the map, so all you’ll have to do is clear them out to get your fragments.
Mended Awoken Talisman (Part 2)
Go back to Petra with the Fragments and you’ll be given another item, the Mended Awoken Talisman. It tasks you with defeating Taken enemies to imbue it with power.
A couple of the fastest ways to complete this step are to run the Lake of Shadows Strike as often as possible, or locate the Sanctum of Bones Lost Sector on Io and clear it out repeatedly.
Io in general is a great spot as all the enemies are predominantly Taken, so the Taken Blight Public Event isn’t a bad idea either.
If you've been saving your "Visions of Light" quest step on Io, now's the time to go ahead and complete it. You'll be facing off against hordes of Taken so it's a perfect opportunity to soak up tonnes of darkness.
Once you’ve absorbed 100% Darkness, you’ll need to bring back the Imbalanced Awoken Talisman to the Spider and the you’ll have to take the Semi-Charged Awoken Talisman to start the next step.
Semi-Charged Awoken Talisman
This tasks you with absorbed Darkness from the Public Event “Ether Harvest” located in Four-Horn Gulch.
The Ether Harvest Public Event takes place on the Tangled Shore and it’s a case of getting on it right away when it appears on the map in Four-Horn Gulch.
You don't necessarily need multiple people to complete this task either. So long as you've got a power weapon to hand and a wave clearing Super primed, you'll take out the three chieftains with no trouble at all.
Get this done and dusted and you’ll be left with the Balanced Awoken Talisman.
Balanced Awoken Talisman
This item allows you to enter the Dreaming City, but you’re not done yet. You’ll need to complete a couple of missions here to round things off.
The two missions are entitled: A Hum of Starlight and Awakening.
They'll pop up on your map so head on over to the quest markers and get them completed!
You’ll receive a piece of powerful Dreaming City gear which is nice bonus. Go visit Petra and she’ll have a bunch of Bounties for you to crack on with too, which is equally nice.
