Team Liquid have defeated ENCE 2-1 in the grand finals of DreamHack Masters Dallas to take home the coveted trophy and $100,000 in prize money.
The final started off as a rather one-sided affair, with Team Liquid putting on a dominant performance to take the first round 16-8 on Mirage. Despite their lackluster start, however, ENCE knuckled down on Overpass and emerged victorious with a less than comfortable 19-17 scoreline.
Team Liquid regrouped in the final round, and proved just why they are considered one of the top teams in the world right now.
They raced to an early lead, shutting down the Finns on the T-side. ENCE threatened a comeback after both teams switched places, but it was too little too late as Team Liquid held strong to close out the match with a 16-13 scoreline.
With this victory, Team Liquid now has two premier titles under their belt in 2019 which shows that they’ve definitely grown as a squad. Last year was marked by incessant second-place finishes, so it’s clear that they’ve worked on mental fortitude to prevent choking and to help them close out matches when it really matters.
ENCE can also leave the tournament with their heads held high. They’ve established themselves as one of the top contenders for a premier title since their incredible run at the IEM Katowice Major back in February.
With the StarLadder Berlin Major coming up, ENCE have firmly put themselves forward as potential Major winners.
