IEM Sydney returns next year with $250,000 prize pool

The Intel Extreme Masters is returning to Sydney in 2019,where 16 teams will fight for a prize pool of $250,000.

The action takes place from May 3rd - 5th at the Qudos Bank Arena, the same location which has hosted two previous ESL Australia events.

A total of eight teams will receive invites to IEM Sydney, with the remaining slots being filled through online qualifiers. Both Europe and North America have been granted one qualifying spot, while Asia and Oceania have three each.

In terms of the tournament format, there will be two groups consisting of eight teams. Those that place second in the group will face off against those ranked third in the first round of playoffs. Group winners will be seeded directly into the semifinals, and it’ll all conclude with a best of five grand final.

Tickets for IEM Sydney 2019 will go on sale on the 15th of November at 01:00 PM AEDT. Prices range from $59 for a premium single day ticket, all the way up to a whopping $1,249 for a Global Elite ticket that’ll grant you access on all three days, plus a bunch of other exclusive bonuses too.
