CS:GO's latest update adds new Prisma Case, AUG changes and much more

Is the AUG's reign finally over?

Continuing CS:GO’s update enthusiasm following the IEM Katowice Major, the devs have just implemented their biggest update yet. It includes a brand new Prisma case, adjustments to round loss bonuses, the introduction of flashbang assists and changes to weapons including the AUG and M4A1-S.

First up, players can now get their hands on Prisma Cases either as random drops after matches, or by purchasing them directly with real world currency. They contain 17 community-designed weapon finishes, and six new finishes for Horizon knives.

Here’s a glimpse at all these lovely new finishes:

The developers have also paid close attention to the community and pro players’ outcry over the AUG’s cost. It’s now been reverted to its original $3,300 price tag, making it more of a risk/reward investment for those who choose to wield it. It remains to be seen, however, whether the $150 price bump will affect its usage or not.

The M4A1-S has been out of the equation for quite some time, thanks to the AUG’s previously cheaper price and incredible ability to hold down a bombsite on the CT side. It'll almost certainly make a comeback now that it can hold 25 bullets in the magazine and hold 75 in reserve. It's a massive buff compared to its earlier 20/60 split.

Elsewhere, round loss bonuses are now based on the count of a team’s round losses with “the goal of reducing a negative feedback loop following streaks of losses”. This means the count increases by one after every loss, and decreases by one after every win. Previously, a win would reset the round loss bonus. Now, a win reduces the loss counter by one.

In something of a surprise move, the game will now have flashbang assists for players who successfully flash an enemy who then gets killed by another player. Those who threw the flashbang will now get an assist callout in the death notice, however, if another player inflicted more than 40 damage to the victim, the assist won’t get a callout.
