Call of Duty: Warzone's FMJ weapon perk has some unique properties and widespread misconceptions. It has different effects on different weapon types. Here's what you need to know.

How does FMJ work in Call of Duty: Warzone?

The FMJ perk has a lot of misconceptions relating to it. Some think it deals extra damage - an understandable assumption because of how it looks in the Gunsmith weapon customisation screen.

When shooting normally, FMJ does NOT increase damage dealt to enemies. Time to kill and number of shots required remain the same, except under specific, unique situations.

Wall Penetration with FMJ

According to testing by jackfrags, FMJ does have an impact on being able to deal damage through walls and other materials.

On an assault rifle like the M4A1, it'll help you deal damage through semi-thick walls like the brick a lot of buildings are made out of. It'll also increase damage when shooting through thinner barriers like wooden doors, even when you can deal damage with FMJ not equipped.

Many trees in the game can be shot through with FMJ attached to an assault rifle too, although this is not universal. Thicker trees are not penetratable with ARs and you'll only be able to get damage through them with an FMJ'd up sniper rifle.

Your damage isn't super-powered though. When using FMJ and shooting through walls, although you'll get hit markers, you won't be dealing a lot of damage at all. It's useful in situations where you've landed a lot of hits on an enemy and are trying to finish them off, but FMJ is often far too limited in its usage to warrant taking up an attachment slot.

Some do prefer the versatility and extra option of wallbangs at all times though, so don't let us stop you.

Damage Range with FMJ

According to the same testing by jackfrags, FMJ does NOT increase your damage range.

That's all you need to know about using the FMJ weapon perk in Call of Duty: Warzone. It's not for everyone, but if you fancy it then give FMJ a go and get some sweet wallbang kills.
