What do we make of the changes?
Here’s a quickfire roundup of our thoughts.
Is the Grau terrible now? No it’s still one of the strongest Assault Rifles in the game. The nerf is pretty minimal and from what we’ve seen and tested, it’s still exceptionally strong at all ranges. We did find it perhaps a little more unstable at long ranges if you’re spraying, but it’s so barely noticeable we’re still unsure if it’s placebo effect or not.
Our Best Grau loadout page is well worth a look if you need some attachment advice.
Is the MP5 now terrible too? Nope. Sure, it’s been toned down a touch but at close range it’s still monstrous. We imagine it’s going to be a staple in most loadouts despite the nerf.
For a solid MP5 build, our Best MP5 loadout guide is the place to visit.
Is the new Rytec AMR sniper any good? Despite being semi-automatic it certainly packs a punch and can kill in 2 chest hits. The default scope and aim in speed is horrendously slow, so you’ll want to deck it out differently as soon as possible. You can also kit it out with explosive rounds which can destroy most vehicles in 4 shots, but aren’t great for hitting enemies. Overall, it’s alright.
If you're unsure of how to get hold of this new sniper, our How to Unlock the Rytec AMR page has you covered.
How’s 200 player quads in Warzone? Honestly, we didn’t notice a huge difference between this and regular quads. Don’t get us wrong, it’s still immensely fun regardless, but it’s not game-changing.
Is the No stock attachment bad now? Not necessarily, it just performs how it should've done in the first place. It's perfect for close range mobility builds, but will really hinder any mid to long range loadouts. You can't pop this on the Grau anymore and expect laser beam accuracy!
Do you like the Gulag? Yes, the changes are good. It keeps things fresh and the new loadouts make for some funnier moments. It’s goofier and less sweaty, basically. We’re fans.
What’s the new Spotter Scope like? It’s essentially a pair of binoculars which allows you to see enemies in the distance and ping them for your teammates without giving off the glint of a sniper scope. While useful, it’s not as useful as most other tactical equipment. We’d much rather use a sniper to spot our enemies, and have a Heartbeat Sensor or a bunch of Stun grenades to hand if things get a bit hairy.
For a complete overview of this new piece of equipment, our Spotter Scope page has all the info you need.
Kar98K buffs? Talk to me. Very good, very good indeed. The ADS speed is much, much faster now and with a touch more damage it’s a quick scoping marvel. Pop a sniper scope on it and you’ll have yourself a highly mobile sniper rifle equivalent in multiplayer too. We've given it a try in Warzone as a sniper and it's capable of downing someone with one carefully placed headshot, but bodyshots aren't super effective.
What do you make of the AX-50 and HDR now? Both still very strong, but the HDR’s now capable of downing or eliminating someone with one well placed chest shot. This is extremely strong in Warzone!
Is the Dragonuv strong now? Sure it’s been buffed a fair amount, but it still takes 3 chest shots to take someone out in Warzone. Given how tough it is to spam shots accurately, there are simply better options out there.
FAL, damage shelf, good, bad? The range at which you’ll one hit headshot someone with the FAL has been decreased, meaning it’s actually super strong at short range if you’ve got the aim to back it up. Of course, it’s still strong at mid to long range but as it’s semi-auto you’ll need to rapidly tap the trigger and land all your shots to be effective - a tough task if the enemy is fully armoured and legging it to cover. Honestly, it might be worth creating a FAL class and running with it nowadays...
AK47, how are we feeling? With a faster ADS speed it’s far more viable as a pseudo-SMG. Give it a no-stock, merc foregrip, and a couple of other bit and bobs, and you’ve got yourself a very strong close range secondary. It still kicks like a horse and is hard to control at long ranges, so not much as changed in this department.
Thoughts on the CR-56 AMAX’s lower range? Not a lot to say about this one. The gun still feels good at short to mid range, but you’ll need to control the recoil a touch more at long range. Again, you could spec this out to be an SMG-esque secondary.
MK2 Carbine? Better in multiplayer than Warzone. Not worth using in Warzone unless you’re some sort of MK2 Carbine god.
Shotgun slugs? Honestly, the slug shotgun still sucks in both multiplayer and Warzone. All the other shotguns are pretty strong at close range, though.
