The iconic AK-74u can be created in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone's Gunsmith. Here’s how.
The AK-74u has been a part of many Call of Duty games in the past, but some don’t know that it’s possible to build it in the latest iteration of Modern Warfare, despite the lack of the weapon as an actual choice.
How to get the AK-74u in Modern Warfare
In order to build the AK-74u, you’ll need to rank up your standard AK-47 to level 56. This’ll require a decent bit of grinding, but the base AK isn’t half bad. You can use weapon XP tokens from the multiplayer menu to boost your progress’ pace too.
Once you’re at the required level, you’ve unlocked all the attachments you need to build the AK-74u. Here’s what you need to plug into your gun.
- Skeleton Stock or No Stock
- 8.1” Compact Barrel
- 5.45x39mm 30-Round Mags
After this, you’re pretty much good to go - feel free to add whichever other attachments strike your fancy for your final two slots. We like using the Compensator to help control some of that recoil and the Stippled Grip Tape to really boost the snappiness of this gun. It’s actually incredibly good in close-quarters maps, and you’ll be absolutely dominating as long as you can control the recoil.
You'll want to use this weapon like a submachine gun - its fast rate of fire combined with speedy handling gives it a solid niche for you to take advantage of.
The AK-74u is the main reason the AK-47 has jumped up our Modern Warfare best guns page, so go check that out for our tier list. We’ve also got info on ranking up your Season 3 Battle Pass if you’re interested.
