Fury Road is actually one of the more annoying World Quests you can see pop up on your minimap: it's extremely buggy, the character you control is unwieldy and frustrating to use, and it can take an age to gather all of the items you need to tick this one off your list.
To help take some of the agony out of the process, we thought we'd put together a Fury Road guide that explains how to get started, and how to get finished sooner rather than later.
Starting Fury Road
First let's clear up a little bit of confusion about how exactly you complete Fury Road. The instructions to "Obtain a crystal from Shardmaster Ufrogg" does not mean you have to track down a mob with this name and then loot the item from their corpse!
Rather, you will find Ufrogg very shortly after you receive the UI message to commence the World Quest itself. You should approach this character once the UI has updated, and complete the dialogue option in order to receive the item you need to start the quest and get going.
Once this Rageshard crystal is in your bag, click on it in order to turn into a crystal creature yourself, then head into the nearby cave. Your task in here is to kill the other mobs, then walk over the Unrefined Gems that fall on the floor nearby in order to work towards your tally of 100.
More essential World Quest guides:
Note that you have been granted the follow new abilities:
Crystalline Cleave - Inflicts physical damage to an enemy and its nearerst allies
Chuck Crystal - A damage ability with no specific instruction
Crushing Leap - Leap to a location inflicting physical damage to all enemies nearby.
Here's where things get extremely annoying.
- It's possible to actually phase out of this quest, which means you may make kills which don't provide crystals for you.
- You may lose the Rageshard item from your inventory - head outside and get a new one if necessary.
Tips and tricks
To improve your chances of success with this mission, we recommend the following:
- Simply remain in the first room and farm the quick respawns. If you head into the cave itself, you run into nightmarish camera and control problems, and it's very frustrating to complete as you tumble off ledges and try to find your way back into the action.
- Note that you can actually hoover up other players' Unrefined Gems. We're still trying to establish whether this loot is shared or you're being one of those people...Still it's one way of getting things finished faster.
Quite honestly we find this one of the most irritating World Quests to complete in the game, and we're more inclined to skip it entirely when it pops up!
Still, if you're determined to finish Fury Road, these tips should take at least some of the sting out of the process. If you've found any other shortcuts to finishing this quest, let us know in the comments so we can add them to our guide.
