Our Call of Duty: WW2 multiplayer guide contains tips, tricks and strategy advice for each map and mode, and will be expanded on over time.

While plenty of people enjoy making their way through the single-player campaign of any given Call of Duty, it's safe to say it's the multiplayer mode where the long-term appeal lies. World War 2 is no exception to the rule, and you'll find a huge number of competitive activities to keep you busy between now and the next content update.

In our COD WW2 multiplayer guide, you'll find a breakdown of all the different game modes and maps that currently exist in the game. We'll be building on this article considerably in the coming days and weeks, adding in individual guides for mastering each area we've highlighted. Check back regularly for updates, as there's bound to be something new in here when you come back

For now though, here's our comprehensive overview of what to expect from the multiplayer side of the game at launch.

Call of Duty WW2: Multiplayer Modes

First up, here's a look at every single multiplayer mode available in COD WW2. In time we'll be added in-depth guides to mastering each one, so check back soon for links to those in-depth strategy guides

1. Capture the Flag

Classic Capture the Flag makes a return in Call of Duty: WW2. The objective here is to work as a team to infiltrate the enemy team's base and steal the flag. Of course, while all that's going on you need to defend your own flag so that the enemy can't grab it from you. Intense stuff, and a classic of the series.

Take a look through our must-read Call of Duty: WW2 Capture the Flag guide for all the strategy tips you need!

2. Domination

In Domination you'll be faced with capturing three points on the map in question. Your score steadily ticks upwards based on the number of points that you currently have command of. As you can imagine, its vital that your team attempts to hold at least two points at any given time, in order to limit the enemy team's scoring potential.

Take a look through our must-read Call of Duty: WW2 Domination guide for all the strategy tips you need!

3. Free For All

No prizes for guessing what this is all about. In Free For All it's a case of every man for themselves. Get stuck in and try to rack up as many solo kills as you can within the time limit, while minimising your own downtime through deaths. Good luck!

Take a look through our must-read Call of Duty: WW2 Free For All guide for all the strategy tips you need!

4. Gridiron

In Gridiron your task is to grab the ball that sits in the middle of the map and then slam it into the opponent's goal. There are different ways of scoring here - you can either toss it in to grab one point, or personally run it over the line to bag two points instead. Keep in mind that you cannot fire your weapon while holding the ball, although you can one-shot enemies with a melee attack and you have tougher armour to boot.

Take a look through our must-read Call of Duty: WW2 Gridiron guide for all the strategy tips you need!

5. Hardpoint

Hardpoint mode sees your team attempting to capture various points on the map. You take the point the moment you step inside it and your score increases for each second you remain inside it. Note, however, that the moment an enemy team member joins in the action you all scoring ceases. It only resumes once every member of the enemy team has been removed from the vicinity.

Take a look through our must-read Call of Duty: WW2 Hardpoint guide for all the strategy tips you need!

6. Kill Confirmed

This is very much like Team Deathmatch except you need to grab the dog tags off enemy players to bag a point for the team. Remember that if the enemy team manages to grab the tag off the fallen comrade before you can bag it for yourself, the point scoring opportunity is eliminated.

Take a look through our must-read Call of Duty: WW2 Kill Confirmed guide for all the strategy tips you need!

7. Search and Destroy

In Search and Destroy you have one team attempting to assault an objective, while the other has to maintain a defense. Sounds easy? You cannot respawn while playing this mode, and so mistakes are extremely costly for the team.

Take a look through our must-read Call of Duty: WW2 Search and Destroy guide for all the strategy tips you need!

8. Team Deathmatch

No explanation needed here really. In Team Deathmatch your need to work together as a team to eliminate the enemy, while doing what you can to deny them points. Whichever side manages to clock up 75 points first wins the match.

Take a look through our must-read Call of Duty: WW2 Team Deathmatch guide for all the strategy tips you need!

9. War

War mode has you tackling a number of different objectives which are designed to highlight some of the most famous battles from World War 2. As you tick objectives off the list, you'll be directed towards a new objective or area that you have to either assault or defend.

Call of Duty WW2: Multiplayer Maps

There are ten maps in Call of Duty: WW2 at launch. Here's a quick overview of each one, and we're in the process of creating guides for coming out on top in each one. Check back soon for updates:

1. Aachen

These crumbled ruins of a city centre have a very dangerous central area but plenty of buildings to the left and right which offer protection for pushing forwards. Be extremely careful about the danger presented by snipers - and of course, take full advantage of this opportunity for the benefit of your own team!

2. Ardennes Forest

There's plenty of clutter sprinkled around this snowy woodland battleground, providing plenty of cover opportunities. Just be careful not to push too far into the enemy spawn areas. They have a lot of space to play around with right on their doorstep, and you can find yourself picked off pretty fast as a result.

3. Carentan

Carentan makes a return based on its incarnation in the original Call of Duty. This is a frantic, comparatively claustrophobic map that requires fast repositioning and in-depth knowledge of the map's many shortcuts.

4. Flak Tower

A huge amount of flanking opportunities await you on this map, and those who favour fighting at short range will find a lot to enjoy here. This map is riddled with pathways to choose from, so keep your wits about you and expect the unexpected from whatever corner you're about to round.

5. Gibraltar

Make sure you use the terrain to your advantage at all times when fighting on this intimidating military base. Long-range, medium-range, short-range - all tastes are catered for here, so pick your best role and deliver on it.

6. Gustav Cannon

A once-quiet hamlet has been turned into a transportation service for the gigantic Gustav cannon. This big, wide open space is tailor-made for those who like fighting from range, so bag a tidy spot and pick 'em off before they know what's hit 'em.

7. London Docks

There are two sections to the London Docks map: the docks themselves and a more city-like zone. In both you'll find plenty of cover opportunities, and this is a map that favours short and mid-range combat specialists in general.

8. Pointe du Hoc

This is another map that favours close-range combat for the most part. As well as wide open areas, there are plenty of bunkers and hiding spots to take advantage of. We'll have a comprehensive guide for Pointe du Hoc up as soon as we can as it's likely to prove a favourite.

9. Sainte Marie du Mont

There should be something for everyone on Sainte Marie du Mont. There's a big old swathe of coverless territory running down the middle of the map, yet there's also plenty of cover to the sides, and lots of opportunities for up-close-and-personal combat.

10. U.S.S. Texas

The U.S.S. Texas is a pretty simple affair where you simply pack your rifle and run riot around the ship. Short-range weapons are fine inside, but switch to something a little meatier in terms of range when you head out into the exterior of this battlezone.
