Our guide to the best Death Knight cards in Hearthstone right now, with the best decks for all nine classes in the game.

A new expansion may be just on the horizon for Hearthstone, but the Frozen Throne's Death Knight cards are going to be sticking around for quite some time to come. With a solid few months of play behind us, we now have a much better idea of the best Death Knight cards currently available in the game, as well as an overview of the top decks in play that feature each one.

We've taken all nine of the game's Death Knight cards and organised them into a top ten format. This information is based on a couple of factors, including their prevalence in the meta (providing you with more deck options for your dust), and the tier list positioning of the strongest deck in each case.

Inevitably this means that there's a little bit of alchemy involved in compiling the list, and so you should consider things in the bottom half of the table to be a good deal more interchangeable than in the top. To help us improve our rankings for a future update, we'd love to hear your own thoughts in the comments, so sign up and let us know what you make of this article.

Without further ado though, here are the best Death Knight cards available in Hearthstone right now.

9. Hunter - Deathstalker Rexxar

Despite having one of the most fun Death Knight cards in the Frozen Throne set, the Hunter has struggled to make much meaningful use out of it over the last few months. Yes experiments come and go, but at best these amount to Tier 3 affairs in the roster of competitive decks. Better luck in Kobolds, eh?

8. Warrior - Scourgelord Garrosh

Control Warrior is continuing to undergo experimentation, even at this late stage of the Frozen Throne meta. A N'Zoth flavour of Control Warrior is seeing some play right now, but as far as we're aware this is the only possible archetype that makes use of the mighty Scourgelord Garrosh - and whatever version you pick it's far from a high-flyer in the current meta.

7. Rogue - Valeera the Hollow

Despite being the only archetype to actually make use of Valeera the Hollow (and even that's not guaranteed in every deck list), Miracle Rogue has struggled to punch up to its previous heights and currently languishes around Tier 4 in the deck rankings. It's simply far too tempting to play Tempo Rogue in the current meta.

6. Paladin - Uther of the Ebon Blade

Only the Control Paladin deck archetype currently makes use of Uther of the Ebon Blade, and who knows if that will even prove a permanent fixture in the coming months? We've also seen experiments with the so-called Exodia Paladin, but these never lasted long beyond the first month or so of competitive play.

5. Mage - Frost Lich Jaina

From here on out things get a little trickier to parse, but Frost Lich Jaina squeaks into the top five of our Death Knight card round-up on the basis of having two - admittedly mid-tier - decks to play around with. We're a bit of a soft spot for the Mage in general, so here's hoping the next expansion adds some new, more powerful decks that will make use of this awesome control card.

4. Shaman - Thrall, Deathseer

Given the nature of Thrall, Deathseer it's no surprise to see it only really being relevant in a pure Evolve-orientated deck. It'll be interesting to see whether or not this card can find more use in other archetypes once the Kobolds and Catacombs era is under way.

3. Warlock - Bloodreaver Gul'dan

If you're wondering why Thrall, Deathseer hasn't pinched a spot in the top three, it's purely because Zoo Warlock is roughly equivalent in power to Evolve Shaman, but also has another Death Knight deck in the form of Control Warlock. That's pretty much the only difference between them right now though, so don't be too put out by this ordering!

2. Priest - Shadowreaper Anduin

As mentioned below, we're slotting Shadowreaper Anduin into the number two slot in this round-up, if only because only the very best players are achieving the potential win-rate of the most powerful deck in the category: Highlander Priest. Big Priest is a little easier to manage, although sits around the middle point of our tier list.

1. Druid - Malfurion the Pestilent

Although Druid and Priest both have a Tier 1 and Tier 3 deck that takes advantage of their respective Death Knight cards, it's our belief that the comparative ease of piloting the most powerful deck in each case makes Druid the winner. By all means swap these positions around if it suits your own personal playstyle!

That's our view on the best Death Knight cards in Hearthstone right now. What's yours?
